Anyone familiar with Dr Nancy Kemeny?

I've heard wonderful things about her.  She has a superb reputation, although I understand her "bedside manner" might not be the best.  She's all business, and supposedly superb at what she does.  I go to Sloan - Dr. Paty is my surgeon.  I don't currently have an onc, as I'm in remission, and my onc left.  Dr. Paty is tracking me in the meantime.

there is a thread that is called (I think) the 53rd St. Gang...people who to that facility, most of whom see this doctor.  Considered the tops in her field, from what I read.

from a colorectal surgeon?  Why can't the colon tumor be removed?  I've seen people on the forums who have had basically the entire colon removed, so I do know they can take a lot out.  I'm not sure why they can't take a piecemeal approach to surgery, but they must have some reason.  Is it because they don't want her off chemo?  As it sounds like the chemo options haven't worked for her, it seems like trying a more radical surgical approach would make sense, but I'm no expert in this.

If it was me, I would want that colon tumor out, even if they are worried about it popping up elsewhere.  That's going to cause a lot of pain as things progress, more so (from what I've read and seen with my own sister) than tumors in other organs.

I'm feeling very frustrated for you both.

That was my next line of thought. I have no idea why it is inoperable. They never told us why when she was diagnosed a year ago. I never even asked why. I can kick myself for not pushing for more answers. I just took there word for it. Not anymore though. Anyone know of a great colorectal surgeon who might be willing to take a chance? I did some reading on the mayo clinic in Rochester minn. They sound pretty good. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There seems to be a pretty big group there who get their treatment in NY.  I have a feeling that they might have some recommendations.  I seem to remember reading of somone who found an awesome surgeon at Georgetown University (Washington DC), who was willing to operate when others wouldn't, butI don't know the name.  Maybe Dr. K will have some suggestions.
