Hi Terin - it sounds like you have been through enough.  I hope it's not cancer.

My husband's symptoms were thin stools and a bit of bleeding - that's it.  Seems like most of the symptoms of colorectal cancer can also be symptoms of other things, so try not to worry too much, but get it checked out and insist on a colonoscopy.

Good luck!

I had thin stools for a while but didnt know that was a symptom. What alarmed me was unbearable abdominal pains that would come and go.

I had blood in my stool for a long time, but blamed it on my hemeroids as they were very large.

Several months previous to diagnosis, I would  look in the mirror (naked) and my upper  abdomen (right below the breasts) was distended. A little voice in my head told me that things were not right.  I even thought about the word 'Cancer' but would strike that down right away. On my husbands and my anniversary, I was constipated the whole time, even though I was earthing healthy and drinking to keep hydrated.

To make a long story short, I ended up in the ER, then a colonoscopy revealed a tumour about to rupture. A BIG tumour that I didn't know was there. growing for years the GI doctor told me.

There are allot of little tell tail symptoms, most unrecognized by the people, which is why it's the second leading cancer killer.

i suggest colonoscopy, not a bad procedure, just the goup they make us drink.

Good luck in your journey.   I do so hope it's not cancer.

Be sure and keep us updated.

Personally, I had no obvious G-I symptoms, only the more generic symptoms of anemia, fatigue, and persistant weight loss,  Hopefully, you're getting this checked out by a doctor asap.  Good luck~AA

Of course my trip to eve ER was a disaster.  The ER doctor basically patting me on the head telling me I'm constipated.

Anyway, I think that you need to go to the ER and not wait for you Onc and GP to get back,

l will be thinking of yoa shoe hope to heat good news soon.

P.S.  tell one of your Doctors that you want a colonoscopy. Don't take no for answer.

Missed my doctors appointment and a nurse said go to the ED and I didn't.
I believe you can get help quicker and get colonoscopy scheduled if needed.
Dont wait -better to resolve and get peace of mind.
Hoping for the best.
I had blood in my stool but was very busy with my kids schedule and work, etc.

It was the diarrhea that caused me to get my first colonoscopy.  That revealed my tumor.  Otherwise, no symptoms at all.

Dear Friend,

It'very unlikely that your beast cancer spread to your colon. If you  have any consistent change in your bower movent, disconfort, bloating, blood in the stool you need a colonoscopy and if you have anything abnormal, tiny biopsies.

Most of us fooled ourselves here with all kings of excuses not to get  or even push for this exam and ended up with a lot worse Stage than if we listened to our symptoms and even insisted on test, because many doctors downplay the symtoms too and tell you to eat more fiber or probably you have hemorrhoids etc.

DON'T WAIT and EASE YOUr MINd no matter what the outcome is.

All the best for you and I hope you will be fine.

I got a hold of my cancer nurse navigator now im waiting to hear back of whats the next step in getting this figured out the hardest i found when you got something serious like cancer the hardst part is the waiting for answers of what their going to do next yet your scared because in the back of your mind ur praying that its not Cancer or mastestis. Ive had many years of surgeries throughout my life and my last one on my 28th birthday in 2010 was the diagnosis of breast cancer and having to have a radical mastectomy . and a yr of treatment with 16 rounds of chemotherphy.

So i hope and pray to have something done and some answers by the end of this week . Keep all of your posts and comments its helpd me out alot with trying to get this figured out i thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless

Sincerely Terin Hibl

The end of june i was put in the hospital with a 101.1 temp I was having problems with my bowels and they did a CT scan but one thing my cancer doctor didnt tell me was that i had an enlarged masenteric lymph node and now im unable to have a bowel movement and im hoping to hear back from my gastrinologist of what to do because the enemais he requested me to try did not work. and im worried about this and scared to death that its not cancer or anything serious like this it worries me with not only that but developing  a bad infection like sepius too.

I hope none of you have ran into any of this trouble like im having with trying to get anyone to listen to you let alone believe you .

Tomorrow i have a CT scan done cause i havent had a bowel movement in a long time and everything that they have tried has not worked I'm tired of being put off and im scared because it seems like each day gets worse im afraid of ending up with a twiste bowel or it ruptering and ending up  with a serious infection that could possibly kill me or putting holes into my intestine cause their not working hard at helping me or giving a dam when i have already have had Cancer i just hope that my breast cancer hasnt mastestised into my intestines because im not only blockd up but i also have an enlarged lymphnode and their acting like their not very concerned . I just hope and pray they figure out what causing this and get it fixed because as each day goes by and its getting worse the less i eat im afraid to even eat right now with everything that going on and ive got very bad hot falsh sweats and cold flashes day and night i thought about going to the ER but my luck they would just send me home so i hope and pray i know somwthing by tomorrow or friday and if i havent heard anything im calling .I just hope and pray none of you have ran in the trouble im having . have mentioned having a colonoscopy.  Just wondering if you had this procedure yet and if not, you should demand it.

Take care,

I thought about that but they have tried every medication possibly to get me cleaned out but cant i havent had a bowel movement in 3 in half weeks they even tried that go lighty stuff you drink before a colonoscopy and that didnt even work this week they tried me on Mineral Oil Fleet enemias and im up to 4 of those a day and nothing has worked and as each comes i keep getting worse and no one will either listen to or even take me serious. So im hoping that something shows so that i can prove to them i was making it up and im not faking it because im tired of my doctors thinking im a hypoconderact cause im not and im being tired of being accused of this even by my own cancer doctor.

Wow - three weeks!!  Well, if you really decide not to go to the ER today, then as soon as your CT comes back and shows a complete blockage - FIRE YOUR CURRENT DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY!    You can't be passive - your life depends on it.

I got the results on my CT Scan but i dont know which to believe my gastrinologist called me and told me that there was nothing wrong everything is ok ...

But i got a copy of CT scan report and it says that i have Talovc Cyst the bottom part of my spine and some od the serious symptoms is not only nerve damage but it can cause bladder trouble not being able to empty that and also intestine trouble where you cant empty your colon so i dont know what to do weather i should go back to him or make an appointment with my Neurololgist see what she thinks and last week i had the scope test on my bladder and i have total loss of being able to empty my bladder so each time i have to go i have to cathederize myeself each time and when im able to have a bowel moevement its very pain and very hard for me to empty out my colon . So i dont know what to do . Keep ya posted.

I checked this out a little bit and it seems from the description that this might be the cause.  Being unable to dump the CT prep and especially the scope prep is hard to imagine.  The Go-lytely works by gravity essentially, so if they ruled out a blockage and it sounds like both doctors did, then it leads you to believe that it could be some kind of nerve compression from this cyst that could be causing the problem.

I read where if the tumor was 1.5 cm or larger, that symptoms begin to present....so see if you can determine the size of the cyst they found...they should have a number for you.

Personally, I would point the direction towards the neurologist....this sounds like nerves...they need to figure something out for you to empty your colon...carrying all of that matter around for 3-weeks at a time has to not only be painful but it's allowing the body to absorb the bad stuff it should be eliminating.

I hope you get some answers very soon.

As much as we all hate going to Emergency Room, you should go. You're right, you do not want to end up with a perforated colon.  Get to a good hospital where they will do a scan AND colonoscopy asap.  You may need an NG tube if nothing is passing.  This will give your intestines rest so things may be able to pass.  My husband went into the ED and was admitted with a complete blockage.  His intestines were so bloated he had to have the NG tube to get rid of things up that tube.  His surgery was scheduled within 36 hours, but some other complications postponed it a few more days, which was better in the long run.  He was able to pass everything that had been "stuck" and therefore much more clear for the surgery he had to remove part of his colon.

Contact your breast cancer doctors if you need to for some referrals.  I cannot believe no one has been helping you figure out what is going on.  Let us know how you make out.

Hi. there,

It became a struggle to go to the bathroom...not a flow. Alternating with diarrhea, and thinner stools...but still did not occur to me that something was niot good until there was blood streaked on the side of my stool.

Getting the proper diagnosis is definitely half the battle.  And if they found you a surgeon here in Seattle, that's great news!  We have some first class hospitals here and really experienced surgeons, so I think it's likely that you will get excellent care.  Let us know how it goes, we'll be thinking of you.

When I was diagnosed with colon cancer my symptoms were alot like the stomach flu. I even passed it off as that 4 months prior because the symptoms had gone away (just to come back 4 months later worse than before). I had severe belly cramping, diarrhea and vomiting.

I also want to add that I am not a very big fan of the colonoscopy. I was told by several physician and x-ray techs that for where my cancer had originated in the colon would never have been found by a colonoscopy. An upper GI would not have either. It was located in the far lowest corner of the colon that cameras from either direction would have ever reached it. How they found it was during Laproscopic surgery to remove what they thought was blockage. The surgeon decided to explore a little upon completion when he discovered a small tumor. When it was tested and came back positive for metastatis cancer is when they ordered a PET scan and found 5 areas in the abdominal cavity and 22 lymph nodes.

my last colon tumor was detected on October 2012, on CT/PET scan, after chemo each scan (4 of them) no colon tumor was detected.  I insisted on a colonoscopy due to pain, and the tumor was found to still be there.

On my last CT scan two weeks and two days ago, it still didn't show up.  Two weeks ago they removed the tumor and part of my sigmoid colon, the tumor had obstructed 95% of my sigmoid colon and three "seed" tumors had been taken out with it.  Had it not been for the colonoscopy the tumor would not have been found (the doc couldn't get the colonoscopy tube around it no matter how hard she tried), I am a fan of colonoscopies now.
