skin cancer? after breast?

I know that some forms of skin cancer can be common, but has anyone developed skin cancer on the face and then had to start treatment?

We are waiting for the biopsy results.....but my cheek started hurting a week or so prior to the biopsy, and I worry about that.  And the fact that I waited five months............and I should know better.....and that the  doctor is 100% sure that it is some form of cancer.

Thanks,

Carol

I still do not know the results, but that I am to go back July 3.   Right below the spot he removed (I have a small whole in my face),  there seems to be another one.  Thanks for keeping in touch.

I was the other way around.  I was diagnosed with skin cancer (face) last year, BC this year.  Still not sure if they were related in anyway. Praying for benign results!  Should it not be...I'd be happy to share my skin cancer surgery experience.  Good Luck!!

Hi everyonetc.e.  I have read this post and thought a lot about this subject.  I have a question that may seem a little odd.  I finished rads three yrs ago and have had constant skin issues ever since.  Cellulitis, swelling, etc.  I worry about skin cancer on that breast and wonder if my chances are greater since having had radiation?  Obviously it can occur anywhere on the body but due to the fact that sun exposure, tannng beds, etc are causes of skin cancer, I wonder...Prayers to everyone and thank you.

I think there is probably a chance that due to the radiation we have that it could possibly make our chances greater.

Good luck Lizzie!

My parents, relatives and even people here where I live have skin cancer and have it burned off.  It isn't the worst kind of skin cancer but the one that is so prevelant in people who didn't have sun screen in their youth as it wasn't invented yet or not on the market.

However, if you are starting chemotherapy, I don't know if you can start if you have an open sore.  I guess that I am not much help to you.  I hope things will work out for the best and you will learn more about it at your appointment.

Best of luck,

Doris

I am so sorry that I have not responded, but I have really focused on the posts about Chenheart.

Well, the dermatologist was supposed to call me right away, but they did not.  On July 3rd when I went in for my appt. they nurse was

"ohhhh, my"  and then the doctor came in.  He explained that the pathology report said he needed to go deeper and wider.  So he  did,

and with a second spot too.  Now I have  two holes in my cheek :( .

Tomorrow I  will see my oncologist for a check up and will share the path  reports with him.

Thank you all for your concern and prayers!!!

Carol

I too had skin issues after my radiation and they decided to biopsy it and i found out I had breast cancer on my SKIN! Unfortunately my cancer went from TN to HER2 positive but the drugs for it never worked so the cancer has spread quite a bit on my skin.  If you have any questions just let me know.  Sorry I took so long to reply, we were in the middle of moving and things got a little crazy.  Hope all works out,I will be praying for you.  Take care and may God bless you and keep you strong.  Cathy K

My oncologist read the reports and said it is good for now. He also said to expect other squamous cells, and to be diligent about getting to the dermatologist.

NOW, my bloodwork shows that I am anemic and my platelets are low.   He wants me to have a colonoscopy,

but ironically I have one scheduled this coming week!!!

Thank you all for your concern and support!!

Hugs  to everyone,

Carol

So sorry to hear about what you are going thru, but you are tough and can do it!

I had TNBC in 2009, lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Feb 2013 had a mastectomy due to a recurrence. Pathology showed it was a squamous cell carcinoma in my breaast at a biopsy sight. Much better diagnosis, but still scary. Dr said it was caused by radiation.  Now I am scheduling a prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction. Want to be done with this!

Sending you hugs!

Dear Sister,

I too had a recurrence, I was originally stage 2, grade 3, TN.  I had mastectomy, chemo, rad tx and then prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction (Lat flap and implant on rt side(original cancer site) and simple mastectomy and implant on left (all clear).  Question 1:  They are definitely sure it is skin cancer.  Because I developed lumps and redness on my chest and it turned out to be breast cancer on my skin or skin metastisis!  I am sure the biopsy diagnosed it properly but I would ask my oncologist about this if I were you.  Question 2.  How sure are u about getting a reconstruction after a recurrence?  I think your idea of a prophylactic is great  however,  reconstructive surgery takes alot out of you.  I know!!!  They never really tell you how painful it can be. I am not being dramatic or trying to scare you I am just speaking from experience. My surgery was very extensive and it took me a long time to heal and it was very painful for a long time (6months) and it left me with nerve damage.  It is also the site where the skin metastisis occurred. Unfortunately I have also changed from TN to HER2 positive but the drugs for it aren't working or they work and the side effects are undesirable.  This last drug, erubilin shrunk my tumors and cleared alot of the skin mets (we were so happy and hopeful) but I have terrible nerve damage that is most likely permanent. If I stayed on the drug I would propably become paralysed. I will be starting a new drug that was just approved this year by are supposed friends at the FDA, so I am ever hopeful. I hope all goes well with you.  Something to ponder though:  Think about the fact that you are ALIVE.  You can live without breasts.  God gave them to us to feed our babies.  If and when that job is done they just become a liability if you ask me.  May the Lord bless and keep you safef

Sincerely,

Cathy
