What's everyone doing this weekend? I say we all meet at a central location and have a little get together.
I'll bring the chips and salsa and some cold beer.
Now each of you bring something and we'll have ourselves a nice little party :-)

Ok....reality check...I guess that's not gonna happen. Wishful thinking.

Dang it, it sure would be fun.

He never did build that cross country tube so I could hook up to it and get my drink otherwise, west coast for me would be fine.  ;-)

If we meet at my house.. there is the beach just 3 miles away, and we have a pool for those without PEGs :) Oh and on the east coast, 10 miles from Atlantic City and the famous boardwalk!

Not sure if that will beat Skiffin's Mickey though.

It's beautiful here finally.  Of course it  would be better if the Orioles were ahead of the Minnesota Twins by one run instead of behind by one.  They only have two innings to catch up.

Let me know where and I'm there......

If you are a real warrior, you're gonna start recording and watching all of the food channels, drooling imaginary drool...LOL.

So do I.  I have Good Eats set for automatic recording even though they're all reruns.  I've got so many recipes that look sooooooooo good.  My family and friends are reaping the benefits though.  It is a bit distressing though not being able to sample the food to make sure it tastes right.

Remind me here... have you lost your sense of smell?  You just reminded me that one of the things I did during treatment, when my diet was the equivalent of stinky baby formula, was to shove my face into everybody else's plate of food and just inhale the delicious smells.  Later on, when the mouth wasn't so sore, and the taste was coming back and the swallow wasn't, I'd actually put pieces of the food into my mouth and chew on them for a bit, and then spit them out. TMI, I know, but if you really miss the Salsa, shove your face into a bowl of it and see if you can't at least inhale some yummy.

Deb (who STILL can't eat pepper, but delicious Mexican salsa flavors came right back)

John, I can make central Florida in September. Billie, I can do the west coast in October. This weekend after a rough week I plan on doing Bernville, PA. I enjoy weekends when I can just park the vehicle on a Friday night in my little wooded kingdom and hope it starts up Monday morning. I've always said the problem with the weekend is Monday morning comes along and screws everything up.

On second thought, there was talk of food, I didn't hear anything about booze, all we need is a craps table and I am in.

Enjoy the weekend

Sounds good to me, I could bring the wine and some food. Wouldn't it be great to all get together? To think that a year ago, I didn't know this site existed, and now I consider so many people friends, people I have never met, but are connected by a common thread. It would be wonderful to meet. All of these places sound wonderful, not real great weather here in Indiana yet, better than a few weeks ago but still cold at night. Skffin, I will be at Disney World in June for 6 nights with my grandchildren and their 3 friends. People tell me I am either brave or stupid, taking 6 kids to Disney but I can't wait!!!

OK, it's an open invite..., LOL, me inviting myself.

Anyone coming to Central Florida, give me a shout out... (actually Clearwater to Orlando area)... I'm always open for a Starbucks or brew, and to trade a few war stories...

My son lives in Bradenton and works in Tampa. He and his girlfriend are making me a grandfather again in September so I plan to be down there around early to mid month. We can do the brew thing. Hell I may even start practicing this weekend.

That sounds great! Now who owns a hotel?

All kidding aside, I think it would be amazing if we all really could meet!
I can just imagine all the fun things we could do and all of our families could come too....ah what an event that would be!

I don't own it, but I manage two hotels and an RV park.....you all can stay with me!!!!  If you want to see how beautiful McCall, Idaho is ...just google it ...maybe John can post a link or two :) :) ....

but it has to be at the end of June or Labor day weekend ...July and August this little 3,0000 town swells to 10,000 almost daily....

..and I'm not half kidding about anyone, anytime ever needing a room ...I get a certain number of comp rooms a month to use as I like (perk of the biz) and I personally pay no housing (my housing is included in my package) and I will always have room for a H&N friend.

Do you all realize I have only met ONE H&N survior...Eric Statler is the only one ....I crossed paths not too long ago with a family of a H&N patient at the same place I got my care, but I did not get to meet that person personally bc he was in radiation at the time...

Somebody really should come see me!!!  :)

What a coincidence, My sister had Eric Statler do a talk on H&N cancer to a group of dentists she manages, then was promply diagnosed with tonsilar cancer, I had been in treatment for about a month, and even though she shared Erics info with me we didn't meet until just a couple weeks ago. What a nice guy he is and he has had a real fight. What a small world. When I get some energy back, I just may make that trip to McCall, beautiful country. Small H&N world......

I'm in central California, in the Sierra foothills.  Several nice State Parks in the neighborhood, and Yosemite is about an hour south of me. Tahoe is a couple hours to the north. Plenty of room to park campers and motor homes in the driveway.

Hi Deb,

I know there are at least half dozen of us in the Bay Area and more including several hours drive like up where you are and Sac area. A nice spring picnic would be cool in a central location.

Sorry, we don't have near as much going here in STL as the rest of you. Duggie, I lived in Bradenton right out of college, some 40 years ago...whew that is a long time ago! Heading to Sand Key, next to Clearwater, tomorrow. If time allows I hope to hook up with John & Shelly but have now heard, in addition to family, 3 other couples that have condos or homes there are going down, so time will be tight. When you live in a great part of the states I guess that happens allot.

I would welcome anybody from the H&N forum, if you want or need a place to stay in Western Washington. I live in a rural housing development outside of Yelm Washington. In the summer months I have my 5th wheel trailer set up as a guest house, (sleeps 3 adults, and 3 kids easy) actually have a small guest cabin, and usually some spare bedrooms as well. The community boasts 3 beautiful trout stocked lakes, hiking trails, a heated swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts....it is really quiet here even when it is busy..... an little over an hour to Mount Ranier,or Seattle and a few hours to the Pacific beaches..gotta say I love it here.....

Marcia and I met online. The site where we met had a "gathering" of members once a year in Washington DC.  A couple of the folks organized hotel arrangements, food, entertainment etc.  It was a weekend event. Come in Friday... cocktails meet and greet etc. Saturday was the bash and went home SUnday. I went to a couple and it was neat meeting the "thumbnails" I've come to know so well ~lol~

Anyway... point is, it's something doable with enough planning. Personally, I think it would be awesome.

Also, some of the offers on this threat are WAY too tempting. One of the goals Marci and I have is to spend a week away after I get through this. Don;t be surprised if you get an email form me in the future ;)
