rads and amifostine......phew! That brings me over half way....YEAH!! Taste has taken a dramatic downturn...not that things taste bad, like metal or salty....just blah...but I'm still eating what I want, and haven't lost any weight. Second chemo is under my belt, and only 3 more weeks of rads...

Now I'm waiting to hear Laralyn's report for week number 5...and what my expectations for next week might be.

I will say this......thank God for MuGuard!! I swear it has spared me much of the pain I was about to enter into...

    Keep going strong
Nice to get another good report--you are now 'heading home' with a lot of strength.

    Good job phrannie
It's good to hear how well you're doing. Not losing the 40-70 lbs. others have is so good!!! I know it's not a cake-walk but you're surviving!!!!! Yeah!!!! You go girl!

I'm doing fine. My throat is getting progressively worse but not unbearable, yet! But my treatment is WAY easier than most on this boards, as I only have radiation and a low dose at that, but I'm sure it's going to get a little tougher as I go, ;( Keep posting your progress, phrannie, we care!!

    Phrannie,
    So good to hear

    Phrannie,

So good to hear about you as it gives a hope to us who are just starting. I am hoping mugard works for me too. Statisitcally, it works for 40% of the people. Which day did u see mouth sore appear?

Mrs. Sarge, i am same as you, only radiation and regular dose. What day of radiation are u and what side affects do you have?

Actuallly let me make a new thread where we all put our experienes.

Sam......I was about one week into rads
and a week past my first chemo, when the mouth sores started lining my lower lip....owie. I started with L-Glutamine to clear them up, then started the MuGuard. It has kept them at bay...I can feel one start up, then blessedly disappear. I'm using it 4 to 6 times a day. MuGuard sent me 6 bottles so I'm not being stingy with it. I haven't gotten ANY on my tongue (tho the stinging from the MuGuard tells me my tongue is very tender and would like hatch a sore or two). So far it's worked for me....part of the lucky 40%???

    Hi Phrannie,

How do you use glutanime? You mix 5g (1 teaspoon) into water and swoosh it? Do you also swallow?

    Thanks,

My L-Glutamine came with a little scoop....
I would say I use a tablespoon and a half into an 8 oz glass....keep swirling it to keep it from settling, swish for 30 to 60 seconds, then swallow it (it's good for digestion, too)...I swished till I finished the glass...I did it 3 times a day...it took two days for it clear my lips enough to use the MuGuard.
