Best news of a crappy situation

No mets anywhere but my brain, who would have ever thought that was good news? Chest, abdomen and pelvic CT all cear as was bone scan. Had rad #2 then came home to my own little bed, thinking about a nap.

Yesterday, before scans I asked MO since I am now stage 4 if I could expect about 10 years...she said no, too optimistic, average is 2 years but those are statistics and you are not a statistic. Today when she gave me the "good news sh said, I never do thie, it isn't my practice, I don't want you or me disappointed..but I have "long-term'HOPE for you. Best gift she could give me and it wasn't done due to the season. She does not sugar coat, or blow smoke up your skirt...tells it like it is. I have been happy dancing ever since. LONG - TERM HOPE 3 wonderful words.

I have 3 maybe 4 spots on my brain but no bone, liver o rchest involvement, they think it will shrink, or die with the rads but there are other options if we don't get results we want. Next 3 weeks, no work, driving, or excercising and if steroids make me hungry...eat. NEVER had a doc tell me that, They also said they thought it was blood borne and started befoe my intial dx and surgery, OMG, an here I thought chemo and Tamox protected your brain, too....nope. Hope to live long enough to keep learning.

Thank you for the prayers ladies, you helped me get the "best of the worst"

Love to you all,

Jennifer

Don't forget the other "good" news in this crappy situation...
You actually had a doctor tell you NOT to exercise for the next 3 weeks! When did you ever think you'd hear that from a medical professional? :-)

Take extra special care of yourself, Jennifer -- and let everyone around you do the same.

This was not my RO, a fill in Dr for him this week
Will see reg RO on Tuesday so will make the most of his ideas until then. He also told me to take a multi vitamin daily and when I asked about drinking green tea he said he didn't care what I drink, even green Beer(BLECH) So a lot of this may change next week. But until then I have a plan. I am always better with a plan.

    Merry Christmas weekend everyone!!

    Better News
Better news than the first post.I kept thinking how hard Christmas would be for you but now things are looking up.I hope the brain mets are gone soon with your treatment and I especially like what your doctor said.Long Term. I think doctors know or have a idea.We look at our X rays but they mean nothing. Doctors see X rays everday and they can tell by looking and what the prognosis is.

You are my prayers that things go good for you with treatment. I believe it won't be long till you will be posting with some real good news.Keep us informed.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    I love the doctors
who consider us people not statistics, that is good news that everything else is clear! Yes it is the best of a not so good situation, but sounds like she believes it is one that you can overcome.

    Wishing you the best,

Jennifer ... HOPE is the greatest gift we have. We can only ask for long term hope and when gifted with those 3 beautiful words, one must smile. And keep smiling. I read this post with tears and smiles. Christmas is here and miracles abound. I wish you a Blessed Christmas, Jenn. Thank you for always having the right words for us sisters when we think life couldn't get any worse.

    Hope...
Sweet Jennifer -- This post made me feel better. I always have hope for all of us, no matter the situation. But when a Physician says it: "long-term hope", it's even more soothing. Yes it is.

Very happy there was nothing else found. May it continue that way. Once we have a plan, it makes us feel more in control about the situation. Not knowing is not so pleasant. But we will continue to pray so this plan works for you. And also that you stay positive and try having a nice holiday (hard, but possible).

I wish I can hug you right now. Please keep us posted.
