Cervical Vertebrae Plate

Options
My wife, Vickie, has a titanium plate in her neck, C-3 thru C-5. With everything else going on,we hadn't thought much about it until reading a post saying you have to be cautious of metal fillings in your teeth when undergoing radiation. If that's the case, what kind of problems is a titanium plate going to cause? I'll be calling the Radiologist Monday but was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this sort of thing.

    Hi Bob
Good question and I don’t believe anyone asked that before that I know of. From my understanding the doctors are able to block out areas in the body that they don’t want the radiation beam to hit. I do know that she will more than likely not be able to do a PET or MRI scan, but for now just make sure they know about the titanium plate in her neck.

    Wishing you both the best

    Radiation
Bob, I have not really heard of anything on that including fillings. I would definitely communicate with the RadsMD and Techs though.

I have several fillings and two crowns, one with a root canal. I've been finished with treatment for over 2 1/2 years and have had no problems so far.

Actually I just had an annual (I go every six months right now) dental appointment with the deep cleaning and x-rays...

I was clean, no cavities or anything else going on.

    Best,
    John

    Thanks
Thank you Hondo and John. Don't know much about radiation, but definitely don't want anything bouncing off her plate and going somewhere it shouldn't.
BTW John...Is that a bull red I see you holding?

    Big Red....
    It's a pretty big one..definitely over slot.

If I remember right, it was 34 1/2", slot here in Florida is 18" - 27"...
