This is the first time I've been able to come back to the site.

But On September 20th at 3:37pm they pronounced My Hero, My Dad. He gave it his all fighting this beast for 19 months. Many times we thought he wouldn't make it through the night. The ending was so brutally hard until the last twelve hours.

The stomach cancer spread to his espohagus, then his spine then everywhere...but went to his brain diagnosed about 2 months ago. I was so proud to be able to take this difficult journey with him. I hope no one has to go through what we had to.

The last twelve hours of his life was very peaceful he slept comfortably..He was essentially in a drug induced coma.. Pain meds, haldol, and ativan every hour..

I want you all to know how much I appreciate you being with me for this journey. Without you I never could have been so strong when dad needed me to be. I not only lost my dad but my best friend.

God Bless all of you. And If you need anything I will still be here. Just right now life is chaotic. Packing the house and moving back to my hometown where all my family is.

Please take care and know this part of your journey will be another well traveled road with others waiting to guide you. My thoughts are with you in these next few weeks of picking up your life and of your dad's... Be settled in your heart and know that his suffering is over now and he is surrounded by loving light.

Come back before the dam breaks.

Peace to you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you have heard those words way too many times already, and they seem meaningless to you. I just want you to know that I am here and will hold you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Fay

Valerie, I know you will miss your Dad terribly, but you can feel at peace with the loss knowing you did what you could to make his ending bearable. I went through it ten years ago with my dad, but I still grieved and grieved. There is lasting peace ahead, I promise.

Thank all of you for your words of comfort and compassion.

It is hard personally..Grief is unbearable some days. But knowing he's no longer in pain is a comfort. I will be entering some sort of grief counseling soon, after i get settled in my new home. Moving back to Ohio and my hometown where my family is next week.

Hope this new chapter is one with good memories and happiness. Time will ease this pain i hope.

Much love to everyone

Valerie,

I know that we have yet to speak directly here in these halls, though it will not stop me from letting you know that I pray for peace in your heart. I pray that you may learn to dance in the rain, knowing that your father is now in no pain.

My condolences to you and your family.

Hi Valerie,
I, too, will pray for peace for you and your family. Your dad knows how proud you are of him and his courageous fight against this horrible beast. He is finally at peace and pain free at last. I pray that memories of happier days will bring you comfort.
