Went to onocologist today, last week when Michaels CEA rose to 508, they sent him for a PET scan Saturday he has had 4 treatments of Folfox, and colon resection since Mother's Day when he was diagnoised. Today, the Doctor said his chemo is not working and he is being switched to Folfori starting Friday. He also said it shows, more lymph node involvement and there was a spot in the shoulder. He has had shoulder pain the last two weeks with out any traums. The Docotr thinks it maybe fractured and he is having an MRI on Friday, if it is found to be cancer as well then it is in his bone and he will need to start radiation treatment on his shoulder.

Don't get too stressed on shoulder pain, I started to have bad shoulder pain for no reason, my onc had x-rays taken because I swear when I move it in certain ways I thought my bones were cracked in half lengthwise, it isn't fractured and it isn't cancer. Still working on why it is, waiting to see regular doc to get his thoughts. My left shoulder is worse then my right sometimes it goes away and sometimes it's horrible. So what I'm saying is don't STRESS yet over it, even though there is a spot.
Here's hoping the new chemo works and hoping for the best on the houlder.
    Thinking of you and Michael.

    Pet Scan
    Winter,

He hadn't even told him about the pain, the shoulder lit up on the PET scan.

    Treatment
Sorry the treatment isn't working for your husband but they have so many different ones out there so maybe this new one will help. Hope his shoulder is something minor.

    inflammation lights up
    Hi,

Just a note to remind/let you know that just because his shoulder lit up on the PET doesn't automatically means it's cancer. The shoulder is apparently swollen or inflamed for some reason & inflammation shows up on PET scans as lit up. The thing is to find why it is inflamed.

    Best wishes & prayers-
