Today was the first of 30 rad treatments. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever begin - it seems like it has taken forever since my surgery was 6 weeks ago. I've got my aquaphor and tshirts so I'm ready to get this part of the journey going and over with. I'm hoping I don't burn, but I'm pretty white so I won't be surprised if I wind up with a nice burn. I'll keep ya'll posted.

I hope everyone is having a good day and feeling good.

Hugs,

Dawne

    burn
I am 1/2 way through and just starting to get pink/dry. Fair skin doesn't mean you will automatically burn. I moisturize 3-4 times a day. Aloe then Aveeno. My RO just suggested hydrocortizone so I don't scratch. The time goes by quick.
    Good Luck!

    Thanks for the advice
I will try the aloe and aveeno. How often do you use the hydtocortizone cream? Congratulations on being half way through.

Now that you are on your way with rads you will be surprised at how fast the time goes til you are done. One suggestion I can give is that I put on Calendula Gel right after my treatment. It is not as greasy as Aquaphor and did not stain my clothes. I did use the Aquaphor a lot at night and early in the morning. Hope all goes well for you.

    It's a breeze!
I have finished 26 of my 33 Rads and am in the "booster" phase now. Barely any burning - more like just pink and a little itchy. The cortisone cream takes care of that. I also use Aveeno Body Wash and Daily Lotion which has kept my skin healthy. You'll do fine. You've been through the worst (chemo) and this is a piece of cake!

Good luck Dawne! I am 1/2 done now, including boost count. A little pink, a little rashy, but doing great!

Wishing you an easy time with rads,

    Good Luck Dawne girl,

    Good Luck Dawne girl,

I just crossed over the half way mark with my rads today. So far just a little pink.. but doing well. How are you recovering from your surgery? Do you have your full range of arm movement back yet? It's good to catch up on how your doing, I've though about you over the past couple of weeks.

    Keep in touch,
    Lorrie

    You guys are awesome
Thank You all for the tips and suggestions on different creams. I will be using them. Today was the 2nd treatment and so far so good. I feel a little burning, but that could also be from my incisions healing.

Lorrie, I do have full ROM in my arm again thank goodness. It's still sore and gets tight if I don't exercise it several times a day. I'm still not doing any heavy lifting or house cleaning per my surgeon. I did drive today for the first time since surgery. Man, it felt so good to be in the drivers seat of my big ol truck lol. I'm glad to hear that you are doing good and half way through rads.. yay :) Take good care.

    Hugs,

    Dawne

    not far behind you
Hi there Dawne, I started Rads only 3 days ago...had a good cry after day one. Not sure where all the emotional upheaval came from, but didn't question it, just let it rip. There is a group on here called the Radiation Room. It is very helpful, and everyone is going through it to some degree. join us when you can. I also have 30 rads. Breast cancer and lymph nodes so doing double duty with breast, armpit, shoulder area, and sternum. I to am blonde hair and fair skin, and was just told by the nurse about the aquaphor today, so I have already had 3 treatments b4 I heard about it. Glad I did hear today. All will be well, we will get through this too. I also find the chat room helpful, so many wonderful people on there too. And if you can't sleep, someone is always on. Talk to you again Texas. Cindy
