I am aware that a normal ca125 is <35 .... when I was diagnosed in Jan 2011 my initial reading was 5882. Has anyone else had such a high reading?

    CA-125
Mine was 4,600 when I was diagnosed in Aug. 2009. I know a woman who's number was 14,000 at diagnosis, and I've heard of some higher.

Stella, I apologize for my rudeness. I forget sometimes that there are new people here.

NED stands for "no evidence of disease". It's a term that originally was used on pathology reports, etc and we have adopted it, and sometimes call it "dancing with NED."

The other terms I can think of are:
    DFI Disease Free Interval
DFS Disease Free Survival - time without disease prior to relapse or last follow-up
    OS Overall Survival
    PFS Progression Free Survival
    QOL Quality of Life
    DX Diagnosis
RBC Red blood cell / red blood count
    WBC White blood count
    CBC Comp0lete blood count
    ACS American Cancer Society
    NOCC National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
And of course, OVCA, which stands for ovarian cancer.

    One more abbreviation
Here's one more abbreviation: ANC -- absolute neutrophil count
I had to take a 3 week break from chemo because my ANC was too low. Neutrophils are the "new white blood cells" and reflect how suppressed the bone marrow is (from the platinum chemo). So if you want to impress your oncologist, you could ask "How's my ANC?" but if you do that, then you probably should know what's considered good! Hahahaha!

    My first CA 125
was 6900 and it escalated to 9000+ before my first chemo. 3200 after first chemo and 1600 before surgery. 13 after surgery then 7, 7, 5 and the most current was 3.

    Ca 125
First you have to remember that most doctors don't focus on the numbers, what is important is the CT scans. Mom's number at diagnosis was 14.301.
