Stop the Madness

I hope you all don't mind, but I feel a need to "express" myself and don't want to continue stalking Barbara53....I'm afraid she has blocked my number, and although she lives 4 states aways, she is probably getting a restraining order out against me....I have never been one for journals so I just decided I am going to make this my journal and you can all read or delete as you wish....I just finished doing my sister's laundry, vacuuming my mother's room, doing dishes, emptying dishwasher, and putting away groceries. I have fed my mother 2 tablespoons of her favorite chicken soup from "the Diner" "her favorite restaurant for soup". I apologized that it was not hot enough for her, but I really thought it was as evidence by my 2nd degree burn on my finger that was making sure it was not tepid... she is refusing to take her tramadol because it's too powerful and has given her a sinus headache...never mind, that my sister and I both have sinus headaches as a cold front moved in this morning......we have yet to hear from the oncologist, and my sister has decided we don't need visiting nurses anymore....anyway, I went to the refrigerator to put away the truckload of groceries and found that she had purchase 3 more gallons of milk to add to the 4 that she already had in there.....2 more huge bottles of spaghetti sauce to add to the half dozen, and 36 eggs to add to the 36 that were already there....I might possibly be losing my mind, except that I need to keep it together so that when Wendy loses hers, someone is here to feed the dog...at least I have my priorities straight....more later.....the sister just arrived...

Lisa...I think it may be too
Lisa...I think it may be too late.

Seriously, I'm guessing your sister is just doing the best she can. Somehow, doing "normal" things often makes us feel that we are not out of control, when of course, that's exactly what has happened. But I'm guessing you already know all this, considering your background and profession.

By the way, I take 200 mg of Tramadol a day (Degenerative Disk Disease) and it has saved my life. Tell your mom to stop being ridiculous and take her meds.

PS....next time I come to NY, will you cook dinner for me? You seem to be well stocked with groceries....LOL.

I get frustrated with my mom too.
She has had rheumatoid arthritis for over 25 years. She got an infected toe a couple of weeks ago because the toe is deformed at this point and rubs against her shoe. The dr gave her a rx for antibiotics. My mom got diarrhea and blamed the pills (maybe rightly so). She declared she wasn't taking anymore. I said what do you mean, how are you going to get better? Well, she says they make me sick. I bit my tongue but was thinking, yeah, I know what you mean, six rounds of chemo made me sick, major surgery made me sick, knowing I may be dead in less than five years makes me feel really sick, but I did what I had to do. And my mom would be the first to chastize me for not following dr's orders. My mom is so negative. I know she is always in pain but grousing about it doesn't help. Okay everyone has a right to b*tch about things but that is not going to help any situation. I try so hard to stay upbeat for myself and EVERYONE else so they can move on and not worry so much about me. LisaQ, we are here for you. Vent as much as you want because I know it is hard to become the parent of a parent. My mom told a nurse once that I was now the parent. Holy C what a responsilbility! Having said all this, I love my mom to death and really feel I have the best mom on earth, I just wish she could lighten up a bit for her sake and everyone else's.

Hang in there (of course I know you will).

PS: I have no siblings so I cannot give any advice on sisters, LOL

I am glad that the topic of hospice has come up, as I know that you want what is best for your mom. Hospice is a warm place, full of unique people that will treat you and your mother very warmly. Please keep us all updated.
