You need stronger pain meds
I had the neulasta shot after every treatment, 4 AC and 4 Taxol. I didn't have any pain after the AC treatments, but I did after the Taxol treatments. Before I started my doctor asked if I had any pain medication at home. When I told him I never used anything stronger than Tylenol or Advil, he wrote out a prescription for Percocet (Oxcondyne). I was able to keep the pain manageable using that drug.0 -

I was luckly with Neulasta - never had any pain from it at all. I was yold to take Tylenol IF I did and that Benadryl taken before could help. Others here have had this SE so they may have some other ideas for you.
It is important to take it with some Shemos as it helps produce while cells which 'fight' infection. I took it after the 4 A/C but not with the 12 Taxol but I have seen some here say they had it on Taxol.

Ask your doc or pharmacist about claratin. I believe it's recommended by the manufacturer. I took it for neupogin (a cousin to neulasta) and had no pain.

I too had the pain and was told to take the claratin and it helped. I had no pain with the claritan!

I too had a terrible time with neulasta. It seemed like the 4 or 5 days after the shot, I was in a dark hole of pain. The cloud would pass and it was better until the next round. I really feel for you. I hung in there because the dr. told me how helpful it was after chemo.
Good luck and keep speaking to your dr. about it.

to increase the white blood cells so that you can be ready for your next treatment. I know--it's not fun. I felt like a truck ran over me for 2-3 days after the shot. I hate narc. pain meds too--so I toughed it out on Advil. I didn't know about the Claritin then or I would have tried that.
Just to let you know--I had neulasta after my first 5 TAC treatments and we decided to not take it for the last one--I ended up in the hospital for 5 days on heavy duty antibiotics with a neutropenic fever. I was so wishing I had taken that last Neulasta!

I didn't get 'zombied out' with the stronger meds. I only took half of the prescribed dose (again my doc's recommendation) and it worked just enough to make the pain manageable but not make me dizzy or sick. I have heard about claritan but never tried it. good luck.0 -

Injection kicked my butt..the first time...was never bothered by it again..Oncologist said usually the first chemo and first Nuelasta injection can be the worst...All these drugs are a tremendous shock to your body...and it it's hard to distinguish which causes the discomfort..as the chemo cocktail I had Cytoxan/Taxotere does produce some of the same side effects as the Nuelasta...I took the pain meds...no sense in suffering! And the Nuelasta helps, greatly, in preventing infections...if your white counts go to low it can delay your next treatment and land you in the hospital..as some have stated.
I, personally, am glad to have had the Nuelasta...One less problem to worry about..
It all sucks but we do what we have to do to regain our health...and we're all different..

I'll add my 2 cents---Claritin or Benadryl did the trick for me. No difficulty with the Neulasta other than fatigue, but who knows if that was the Neulasta or the chemo.
I never had an issue with low white blood counts while on chemo & Neulasta. That was a big relief.

Neulasta side effects
Hi Denise...I had my first Neulasta shot this past Monday, March 28. At first I was fine...then by about 9 pm I started getting bone pain in my lower legs. Now it's moved to my lower back....pretty bad pain too. My oncologist gave me Percs too....and I probably took too many Tuesday nite as I could not sleep either. So then I was sick Wed morning ( and still no sleep). I am not normally a 'pill' person so I think the combination of drugs in my system was just too much for my body. I am going to ask about Advil or Claritin when I see my onc next. Don't stop Denise ! They all warned me the pain means it's working in the bone marrow. We can all get thru this together. My fingers are crossed that I may get some sleep tonight (!)...averaging about 2 hours a night. As an aside the chemo I am on is Docetaxol.0 -

I hate that shot, it is NASTY!!! I am so sorry that you have to have this shot and are experiencing so much pain. I wish I could tell you something that would help with the pain, but I am trying to figure it out too. I take a daily claritin which actually takes some of the edge off of the pain, but it doesn't take it completely away. I hope the pain eases for you and that you can get some rest. I will be praying for you.
