Returned last night from the latest Mexico trip. Security in Mexico was uneventful...even with the lymph pump in the carry on. However, Miami TSA was time consumping this time. Each time it is different! Both carry ons caused concern to them.... I had the garment and wires in one, and husband had the pump machine. They spent a lot of time reviewing the machine. But...in one bag I had a swimsuit with the silicone prosthesis in it. Wow....I kind of felt violated as I watched the male TSA agent fondel my prosthesis :-) He started to remove it from the suit, but then just fondled it a bit more.........funny actually. Last trip I had the scan AND a pat down...... so I am convinced every flight will have a new experience. The arm and hand with lymphedema was no issue...I used the tape as well as compression garments. Love to you all...I am trying to catch up today....

    Thanks for the info~
I am flying to phoenix in 2 weeks and not sure if I should do the scan, the pat or both?? I am seeing my radiation oncologist for a follow up (6mo) and will ask his opinion. I have an implant in and that is all, but just not sure of the protocol of flying with fake boobs these days....:) i do have a card (like a credit card) that has my implant info on it to show if there are any Q's at security~

    enjoy your trip to Phoenix
Remember, I have been on 8 flights since January, and only once was I asked to step into Scan machine, which I did not decline. It was that time that they also chose to do a pat down.... which was light, and I did mention the prosthesis. On all other flights I only went through metal detector machine with no issue. You need to decide for yourself (w/your onc's help) if you wish to refuse a scan if selected for it. As for the pat, just tell TSA immediately of implants etc and I think all will be fine. I was always prepared in case I was not confortable with a situation, to politely ask for a supervisor. I did allow extra time on each flight check in to allow for any problem that might arise. Enjoy your travels!

Thanks for all of this info
Thanks for all of this info cavediver! I, personally, don't have a problem with anything at the airports. I would rather be safe!
