One more treatment after today and I'm mopped up!

Hey Guys awhile back I posted my concern about staying on the folfox train. I was truly afraid of the damage it was doing I stuck it out after reading all of the responses. Some were for stopping and some were for staying on the chemo. Most importantly all the responses I recieved were from people who were concerned for me and wanted nothing more than for me to be comfortable with my decision. I think the response I got from Clift (Buzzard) was the one that made me decide to stay on the chemo. Thanks to all who cared enough to comment.

I was pretty sick as i'm sure many of you have experienced. 2 weeks ago the doctors decided my feet were pretty bad and stopped the oxcaliplatin so I had the lucivorin(I think this spelling is wrong But Yall know what I mean) and 5fu and did that again today. I feel much better but still have lingering effects that I think will last awhile and a few issues that will last forever but I'm alive.

2 weeks from today will be my last chemo (i hope forever) and the docs were talking today about port removal,scans and colonscopy. This was a very welcoming discussion because I didnt expect it. But got really excited (for a littl while )about the possibility that this nightmare may almost be over. My prognosis for cure is very good but I'm afraid to get my hopes up too high.

I still take it all a day at a time it's the only way to keep my sanity and remain very aware of the people here who continue to fight for their lives on a daily basis in some cases for many years. I pray every night for all of you. You have done so much for me. I am full of gratitude tonight (can you tell) and just wanted to share it with everyone, i'm out. goodnight, Tom

    Congratulations on making it through! Hopefully, in a couple of years, this will all seem like a bad dream.

    So glad you decided to stay on it. Folfox wasn't too bad for me. I'm wishing and hoping that the foot thing goes away! Congrats on doing finishing in two weeks. I LOVE being done with chemo.

    Yeah, Its hard to tell that you are a little bit happy......LOL
    Don't blame you bud...I certainly hope that you never have to deal with this again either, but something to think about...Myself, so that if something might actually ever happen to me again. I have already picked the place, my option for removal (if tumour) (Canuck spelling) my treatment regimen will hopefully be RFA ...I just get kind of a pre plan simply to trick my sub conscious into thinking that if it happens a plan is in place. There should be less of a jolt if it does. If it doesn't then by getting a plan pre planned out it helps me to forget it all a little easier cause it has me with all of my ducks in a row...everything planned ahead of time now I can forget about it...If it comes, im ready if it don't Im ready...its a mental thing but it works for me.....
    Tom, You most likely will always look back over your shoulder . Its something all of us try not to do but hard not to...In any form or fashion that will keep you from doing that very thing you need to find something as I have done to allow you to really truly enjoy your life and be able to plan for 5-10 even 20 years out...and be serious about being there to do those things...What ever it takes to allow you to forget cancer do it...If it means leaving this site, do it, we'll miss ya but do it. I know that dismissing yourself for a while does let you go a lot longer not thinking about this. Do what you must to enjoy 110% of life...You have been through enough and we need a great success story, might as well be you...LOL. Im sure you agree with that one...You have been through the worst, now its time for a little payback...be your best at enjoying what you have worked so hard for....Life....Love, Hope, and a cure for us all in 2011..................buzz.....

    its great news and I pray your clear of our curse for good.

    I am glad you have keep your sanity, mine is questionable.

    living in the moment and enjoying today is probably the best thing we can learn out of this.

    As for the future, the way I look at this is if I am not actively in the fight then I am doing good. If things change, then I will worry about it then. That way this disease doesn't eat into the good days.

    Take care and be sure to remind us when you get to that magic day of the last treatment!

    I'm really glad you went ahead with the chemo. I was concerned because you said you were stage III prior to surgery and then they said stage I after radiation, chemo and surgery. Well, many times, most times, staging after radiation and chemo sounds 'lower' but the first staging is always the lowest TRUE staging. You can go UP, but you can never go DOWN. Your chance of never being sick again is very, very high! I'd love to have our odds when playing the lottery! LOL

    I'm glad your almost over. I know how good it feels to be off that chemo. Your body just gets a breath of fresh air. And don't forget to do just that. Have fun, enjoy, and think healthy. I've been away from the site while, trying to focus on treatmets and family issues. I'm going for my 6th treatment after my liver resection. up coming cea levels and ct scan in April, then will figure something out. Hope all goes well for you, keep you in my thoughts. Blessings Lourdes. Hey Now you can get back on your motorcycle. Give me a buzz and we can get together. My husband and my 3 kids ride, and I met a friend at chemo she rides a Yamaha 1700. A trip to Canada Niagra Falls sounds good to me. :))
