Pet scan came back all clear except a 1cm hypermetabolic activity spot "in" my uterus. Funny thing is I had a hysterectomy and don't have a uterus! WTH????

    Oh My Gosh!
Ummmmm....I'd be high tailing it outta that place and looking for a new hospital and new docs! Obviously, they were looking at someone else's scans, or they don't know how the hell ot read them! Either way, I'd be really nervous and outraged! You need to ask a LOT of questions! Whew...you weren't kidding when you said you had a doozy! :(

    You mean...
They told you that you didn't have a uterus.

Has the check cleared the bank yet?

This is bound to have an interesting explanation.

    I Agree
I agree with everything that Sally said. Are they trying to tell you that you grew a new uterus?

I agree with Sally--it is *definitely* time for a 2nd opinion and new docs!

and if they *were* looking at the correct scans and *do* know how to read them, maybe you need to get ready to sue somebody!

    PET Scans
PET scans can give a lot of false positive readings, which is why a lot of oncologists (including Donna's) don't use them.

    Oncologist said
That it could be scar tissue from hysterectomy or some endometriosis. I have a pelvic MRI Monday morning. Such craziness!!!

    I've heard of phantom pain
I've heard of phantom pain but a phantom uterus??? I would want them to double check they are reading the right scan, I know I was once shown an x-ray to explain my son's upcoming knee surgery when my husband noticed it was not his e-ray....we were upset! Soooo...never hurts to see your name on the x-ray.

    Doozy is right
You better hope that a magical baby doesn't appear. Doctors gotta love them. I'm sure it is scar tissue, but you would think they could tell.

    Wow!
That is a doozy! And here I thought it was crazy that I had a pregnancy test done even though I had a hysterectomy over 12 years ago!
I too have learned that PetScans aren't always "reliable". I had a spot on my stomach, had to have more tests done to rule out Stomach Cancer, all because I was bloated from eating cheese with my high-protein breakfast!
However, it still sounds like you just got the news of NED, so Congratulations!!

    So weird
what did they say when you told them you didn't have a uterus? My breast surgeon also did not want to do a PET since they pick up too many hot spots.

    Does
your dr have an explanation????????? I had an endometrial biopsy and ovarian/pelvic MRI and ultrasound prior to bilateral mastectomy because I was experiencing spotting and I'm 11 yrs post menopause. All turned out ok but I never had a hysterectomy. I hope it's only scar tissue the PET scan picked up on........
