Recurring breast cancer

Was decidedly unhappy when I went for my 4 year check up last week and found the breast cancer mets were in the middle of my chest. This began in 2006 and geez, I'd really like to have been done with it.

So the second round will start shortly; chemo, surgery, radiation and the reconstruction if I want. I've had so many surgeries, had a bad plastic surgeon first time out, and now I've been going to an oncologist who just dismissed all the signs, even as I pointed them out to him months after month. Meeting my new oncologist on Thursday and then back to the surgeon to prepare appts. for port-o-cath and all.

I know, think positive! Believe me I'm trying - send hugs, all greatfully appreciated!

    second time around
    Dear Irene,
I am so sorry you have to go through this again. Please keep us posted on your treatment progress. Glad you are getting a new Oncologist. That is so frightening that your previous doc didn't look into the symptoms you reported.
I am going for my six month check up this week. I wish I could say that I am not at all worried about the mammo...
Hang in there. Sending positive thoughts and hugs.
    Big hug, K

    Hi Kay
Thanks for your kind words. It is frightening out there. You really have to be lucky with doctors, I guess like everything else. I was clean almost 4 years. I took Arimidex all this time and guess it didn't work that well. Just trying to be humorous, have to keep some humor.

You my dear, think positive, you'll be good!

Feeling your postive hugs and thoughts~!
    Hugs back at you.

    Got my support and prayers
    Dear Irene-

Please keep us posted on your next round of treatments. Unfortunately, there is a reason to be vigilant on our follow-ups. You do have friends here - it's so good to have them, but so bad we're all in the same boat.

    Best wishes,
    Suzanne

    I find it sad
that more and more doctors just either don't listen, or don't get it. Gee, Irene, I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this again....let me add my prayers to the others, and here's hoping the this round of treatment kicks cancers a$$ to the curb this time!

    Fight Like A Girl!!!!
    Hi Irene!

Sorry to hear your news that we all pray we won't hear but you fought the good fight once, you can do it again! We're all your cheerleaders. Hopefully your new onco will be way better and get you thru this minefield.

In your picture are you holding a dog? It looks sort of like my little toy poodle - a diva if there ever was one!!!!!

Hang in there and stay tough. Hugs, Sally

    darn cancer!
I hope your new oncologist is more receptive than the last one!

Isn't it amazing how well you know your own body??

Some docs dismiss that but the good ones listen.

Hang in there and kick cancer's butt again! You did it once and you'll do it again!

    xxoo,
    SamuraiMom

p.s. and what a cute puppy in your picture!!!!

    Understand recurrence
Hi, I understand about recurrence I was diagnosis with bone met in my T6 in April. I kept telling my doctor and onoclogist that I did not feel well and I think my cancer came back. They did bone scan and ran blood work and could not find anything. But I kept having this feeling that it was back . I was right they finally found it in my bones.

I am glad you found a oncolgist that will listen to you. I wish you well we are fighter we can fight this and with support from the board and our family we can keep on fighting. I will keep you in my prayer.
