First I went to my primary care doc. He examined my back, and wrote scripts for pain killers, muscle relaxants, anti-inflamatants...

Next I went to a chiropractor that I met, of all places, in the parking lot of my primary care doc. He was there on his day off, and didn't push, but when I said something about hurting so badly, he asked if I had a chiro. I told him I used to, but she retired. Then I asked if he knew someone good. He suggested the clinic he worked at. Turns out, this man is the owner/operator.

He has 'magic hands'! I'll admit, I was nervous...my old chiro was not a 'pop and crack'...but I had so much pain!!! After one adjustment, I was better. 3, I'm feeling pretty spunky.

As with my 3-prong approach to my cancer treatment, I feel that this success was a combo of both 'traditional' medicine and manipulation. I have been keeping up with the anti-inflamation drug from my primary, but also using advice from my chiro....

Thank you all, again, for your sympathy! Of course, in a few moments of visiting my 'dark corner' I was frightened that this was the beast again. That is why my first stop was my primary, who had found the cancer the first time.

Hugs (now that I can again!!! YEA!!!) Kathi

Glad that you are in recovery from your back. When that hurts your whole body hurts. Hope you get on the mend and back to normal very soon.

    Hugs back at ya! Kim

    I'm not too enthusiastic
I'm not too enthusiastic about chiropractors, myself --- it's a prejudice. My way of dealing with back problems is exercise. I used to "throw out my back" about once a year, which left me hobbling about, bent over and miserable for a month or so. I started doing sit-ups and various other exercises to increase strength and flexibility of my back. It has worked great. When my mother became an invalid, I needed to lift her back and forth from wheelchair to bed several times a day -- no problem. The back pains I use to have occasionally are a thing of the past.

It will probably take some time -- a few years -- to get your back in shape. Or, I should say, back back in shape. But just a few minutes each day is enough. So, give it a try (and get back to us in a year or so, to say how it worked).

    Interestingly enough....
He gave me exercises! And diagrams how to 'protect' my back while lifting, rising from sitting and laying down...

Thanks for the tips! I will be exercising soon...

    Hugs, Kathi

    So glad
    Kathi,

I am so glad that you are feeling better. Back pain can be so trying on you. It used to keep me up nights and was just horrible. Happy to hear that the chiropractor did the trick...
