Well ladies, I am having a bi lateral mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction on Monday , June 14th. I am really scared and SO TIRED of waiting and thinking about it. I would so appreciate your good thoughts. You all have inspired me so much with your brave stories, so I know I can do this. I have been through a mastectomy, chemo and radiation and I have been feeling good. I know I will have a couple of months of misery, but then it will be behind me.

Thank you all for your inspiration,
Jean

    Stay positive, and remember
Stay positive, and remember this too shall pass. Allow others to wait and pamper you. The actual surgery wasn't as bad as the waiting for me. I kept telling myself if I gave birth to my children then I can handle this, and you can too.
    The best to you

    Good thoughts coming your way...
Take it easy and hope you recover soon. :) I wish that my appt w/the surgeon was sooner than this Wed so that I can just schedule the surgery. The waiting is horrible, but once it's out then you can at least that much closer to recovery.

    It's going to be okay.
    Hi Jean,

I had my bilateral mastectomy on 9-9-09 and I know the anticipation is heavy. What you're going through stinks but I can tell you from experience you will be okay. Just be patient with the recovery process and take it slowly.
I documented my entire surgery up to my current state on my website if you'd like to see my photos and story that goes along with it if it will help you at all.(www.mymastectomyonline.com) It gives tips on hospital stay and recovery too that may help you under the Survivor Tips tab.
But sometimes ignorance is bliss. :)
My heart and deepest thoughts and hopes go out to you my invisible sister!!
Take a deep breath (and a few Xanax if they help ;))and you'll be one step closer to the next.

    I'll be praying for you.

I'll be praying for you. The best advice I can give you for this surgery is to let others help you and don't try to be Superwoman. Rest and know that you do have limits. At the same time, if you can just do one small thing each day that you couldn't the day before, you'll feel like you are making progress and healing.

    sending good thoughts
The waiting is the hardest part of this; the surgical day will come and go and you will be closer to recovery and getting on with your life.Take good care of yourself; allow others to support and pamper you. Keep friends and family close and keep looking forward to your goal of dancing with NED.
Sending good thoughts and healing vibes.

Well I know what you are
Well I know what you are feeling I am going for surgery on Thursday 5/10/10,- I am having a bi-lateral mastecomy with expanders put in, and the wait was the worst for me. I go see the physical therapist tmr and I am glad that I have my husband and mom here with me to go through all this with me. Plus the understanding of my children has helped out alot. But I have kept GOD first and that seems to help keep me in line. I just know that I will get through this and that this is only a test of my faith and my strength. So I know you will be ok also, just look to GOD when you get down and keep telling yourself this is only going to make you stronger. Now don't get me wrong we are allowed to have our moments to cry and scream but once we do then we can pick ourself back up and move on. I am showing my family that I am the strong woman that GOD has made me into. And you can too.

Good luck and stay strong. There are alot of wonderful women here to turn to. I have found that out myself.

    Jean -
It is certainly understandable that you are tired of waiting and scared. But you have already been through so much and you made it through - you will make it through this, too! Best wishes for an easy and speedy recovery!
