I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer a year ago today (4/9). It's been quite a journey and I thank God for giving me the strenght to fight this battle. I want to thank everyone on this board for the positive words and prayers. You are all an inspiration! I have made it thru 12 rounds of Folfox, a TACE procedure and am now on Folfiri, and plan on being around for a long time to come.
Love You All!

    Congratulations
Congratulations on a job well done. Sounds like you are living life to the fullest. My husband was diagnosed just a week before you, Stage IV also, and is doing very well.

I have a question, what is a TACE procedure?

    Take care - Tina

    TACE
Trans arterial chemo embolization. They went into my liver by route of the femoral artery (artery in the groin) and injected 40 times the amount of chemo that I get orally directly into the liver tumor. It didn't work well for me. I had been put on oral chemo for three months and the lymph nodes showed "considerable growth in tumor bulk", so it could have worked but the liver tumors had started to grow as well as the lymph nodes on the Xeloda. Thye might try again later this yr. So now Folfiri. I live every day to the fullest, I work full time and love to go camping and am going to a dancing event on Sunday, plan to dance all afternoon!

Screw the stats, we are changing them
    Pat,
I am one year ahead of you also stage 4, DXed 4/08. I had the liver chemo embolazation 12/08. I have had a total of 5 scans since then. 2 CT, 2 Pet and one that just looked for radioactivity after injection. All were NED. Keep active and keep the great attitude. This is a battle you can win. Screw the stats, we are changing them.

    Good news!
    Patsy,

You are a very strong person to make it through 12 FOLFOX treatments. Many can't do that (including me!) so congratulations!

I am glad that you are doing well and enjoying life.

Congratulations. Just think a year goes by and a whole new outlook on life. Life is good, enjoy each and everyday.
My husband's date was on the 8th of April. Felt good to see that stressful year end and hope never to have another like it.

Congrats on your persistence in achieving 12 rounds of folfox. My husband just finished his 12 rounds of chemo also and on April 5 was NED. We are hoping for the best. And the best to you also.
