Having hysterectomy tomorrow

Hi team! My operation is tomorrow morning. I am pre-menopausal (38 yrs. old), ER+/PR+ so my doctors wanted me to have my ovaries removed before starting me on tamoxifen. My mom died of a uterine sarcoma so we are also removing the uterus. (Tamoxifen has been linked to increased cases of uterine cancer.) I am looking forward to being finished with this. After this surgery, I will take my little pills for 5 years, switch to AIs for 5 years, and with a little bit of luck never have to face this again! Keeping fingers crossed, Pitt

    Wishing you all good things! Of course a successful surgery, and a super fast recovery, followed by untold YEARS of a healthy, cancer-free life!

    FYI...a bit of hysterectomy trivia, which a smart woman like you no doubt already knows! Hysterectomy was so named by MALE physicians when menopausal women, with hormone imbalances making them "hysterical", had the part of the body making them that way removed. Hyster-ectomy...just like a tonsil-ectomy, or an append-ectomy.

    Isn't it time to lobby for a name change???!!!


    I like my Dad's description much better: Taking the Baby Carriage out while leaving the PlayPen in! :-)

    Dear Pitt, My prayers for you as you go thru this surgery. You're such a sweet beautiful woman and you deserve to feel better and get your life back. I had this same "hysteria" years ago and became a much better woman, I was also 38 years old. Keep us posted as to how you're doing.

    Hi Pitt, thanks for the update you are on my prayer list. Lost my mom to Ovarian cancer so I had the hysterectomy about 8 years ago. Be kind to yourself and let everyone else take care of you and before you know it you will be fit as a fiddle in no time, LOL my grandpa used to us that saying all the time. You're gonna do fine, let us know how you are doing when you can.

    Wishing you the best tomorrow! I will be having my ovaries removed next month. It makes me feel empowered. This is one way I can be pro-active. It's nice to feel like I have a little control over my destiny. I hope this can feel as positive for you too.
