if it did the job, I will gladly live with wet sand in my socks and skin numb to my knees.

If Oxi works, then Oxi rocks!

    Please don't get me wrong...
I'll live with whatever it gives me. I'm more than thankful for these drugs that are kicking the butt of every little cancer cell... I truly believe that oxi rocks. It's a powerful drug that knows it's mission. I know it's working. How can it not?

The point of my mini-rant is:

I don't have to be happy with the side effects. For only being my second dose, it's punched me hard this time. What's going to happen the 3rd, 4th and 5th time? Yes, I will fill in the onc next time. This will be the #1 suggestion, I'm sure. Maybe I can make a suggestion to either infuse it in over a longer time or cut it down.

I'm very optimistic that oxi is doing it's job. Just needed to vent a little. :o)

    I'm sorry
    Holly,
I am feeling for you! I hate the entire folfox cocktail, but it is going to give us what we want, a Cancer Free Life! I don't blame you for your mini rant, oxi is one tough drug.

For treatment #7 my onc added addition mag and cal at the end of treatment plus she exented the time for oxi infusion. Now I will spend the day in the infusion room, but the extra time and the addtional meds have helped lesson the neuropathy.

Take care, and rant away, mini or otherwise, we will join in with you!

I think it is a fine line
I think it is a fine line onc walk- how sick can we make you before we kill you with the chemo. And then they play with the numbers- when to start cutting the oxi and how much. I was pretty sick on oxi- hospitalized 3 times for a week each time due to oxi. The last time was really bad- not just talking numb fingers and being tired. It was months after my last oxi before I could walk any distance and could do anything without sweating a bucket or two. People kid about chemo brain- a year since I had chemo and the kind of language they are using with me is "potential permanent impairment"- which is a huge deal as it is unlikely I will finish my doctorate.

I think we all have won the right to vent about the chemo drugs we were on or still are on. The point is for many of us it wasn't just being sick a few days every other week. And many of us had a huge quality of life adjustment due to chemo. Yes, oxi is the devil.

Hey, we all deserve to rant once in a while!
    Holly,

Don't ever feel badly about a rant, especially a "mini-rant"! I hope your next infusion is easier.

    It certainly is not
It certainly is not my favorite drug! ;) I'm with you on this one.

I have a love/hate relationship with oxy. I loved the idea of the extra chance it gives me of winning the war. But it has made my life a lot tougher than it was supposed to. Not sure if I'm getting it again or what. I'll find out Friday if I'm doing another hospital round with desensitization, or if I'm doing a round w/o oxy, or if I'm just plain done with all chemo after these allergic reactions...

I'm scared to stop it after just 7 tx. But I'm also scared to have chemo again.

    Amen
Oxi is the devil. I am off of it now but let`s just say that me and oxi are not buddies. Oxi is satan`s poison. I hate that stuff but it does work good. The worst part is the mouth slime and the fact that you can almost feel it coming out of your pores. Everything that comes out of you seems so gross when you are on oxi. I felt like a walking biohazard on that stuff. I was a toxic chemical receptacle that oozed all the overflow. I am painting such a pretty picture. Sleep well tonight.

    Oxi is indeed the devil
For me, it was get off oxi after just four treatments or go to hospice. I chose to get off oxi for it was killing me a lot faster than the cancer ever could.
