Lung exray.........

after 35 years of smoking I decided after talking with my Onc that I needed to check my lungs and he informed me that since last Thursday was very snowy that the exray lab wouldn't be very crowded. It wasn't so I walked in had my non invasive scan done and was gone, all in less than 10 minutes. I didn't call for the results, I waited like I should, and tried to feel all the emotions that people feel in situations like this...Again, it was awful, the ups and downs and what ifs and naw its not surely gonna be bad.. The longer I waited the more worked up I got, but insisted upon myself that I not call or not worry about the result, good or bad.
I have talked with a lot of people in here about how not to feel lost or petrified about getting results from scans or tests, only to find myself in that seat again, and again finding myself thinking about the pros and cons of the results and how I would handle the outcome if it in fact was bad.
What I guess Im saying is that I do not take anything I say in here (unless joking) lightly, and telling someone not to worry is my way of trying to let there be calm before the storm. Never think that we take results lightly or outcome of scans. We just try to put our friends at ease with what ever it is.
My experience through this chest exray re affirmed to me the total mass confusion that it places the whole family in if it comes out bad, it also allows me to know again how to try and pass a calming note or jesture to someone waiting for the same results as I waited for for 5 days. I will never ever make light of something so life changing to anyone or joke about it. Its only done in fun to remove the patient from their thinking for a little bit.
I am elated with the outcome of my exray. It showed nothing. I am also sad because before now I took what was life changing to people and sometimes made jokes about it, when there wasn't actually anything funny. I just try to keep everyone laughing and in a good mood no matter the circumstances, no matter if you feel bad or not cause I am your buddy, and buddies tell it like it is....I wouldn't have it any other way...so if I upset someone or my quip doesn't exactly need to be where its placed, understand that my intentions are good, its just sometimes the outcome is bad...I don't get paid for being a comedian, so you'll just have to take what you get......Now with that said and behind me.......

I AM A HAPPY MAN..........clear...clear....clear....and remember, I don't believe in luck

Dancin' Naked Again and it is a butt ugly sight.....LOL...........Love and Hope, Buzz

    YAY!!
YAY!! Again, good news! I love positive things I read on this board, even though we all know that the bad just generally comes with it.

I think we all need a little humor Buzz. I know I HAVE to have it in my life or I'd go nuts. I take each post for what it's worth and go from there. Since we're pretty much all in the same boat, I think I can kinda safely say that others probably feel the same.

glad to hear your good xray outcome!
    Hi Buzz,

I'm so glad that your xray results were good! That is kind of you to explain what you went through with the waiting and the "what ifs", and to apologize about any possible past jokes that might have been taken in the wrong way. I bet no one took anything you said wrongly but, just in case, you were very thoughtful to say what you did.
But, that's you- always thinking of others!

Enjoy basking in the news of nothing found in your lungs- you have a good rest of the week!

    A common theme with your
posts have been that they always seemed very genuine to me. Whether trying to lighten someone's mood with a little humor or shooting straight from the hip and telling the hard facts; always with the readers best interest at heart. I admire that in a person. I am very happy to hear that your scan came back clear.
    Take care,

    You were my first reply
    Buzz
You were my first reply to my first post. You gave me sincere hope and let me know someone cared. I was very touched and heartened by a stranger giving me hope. I am so glad your lungs are clear and I repeat the earlier question "Have you quit?"

I am still in the waiting stage for my lung biopsy. It is miserable trying to stay positive and turn down that extra noise going on in my head. Most times I am ok. Appointment tomorrow. Hope my news is as good as yours! I am basking in your good news! Hugs

    Your Timing is Impeccable...
Because like you, I have always tried to alleviate people's fears and try to get their minds off of things too - not to downplay it, but just to say don't worry...

Well, just like you...I just got another taste of it again tonight as I was leaving work...one phone call and all of those apprehensive feelings were right back in the passenger seat with me.

I'm glad things went well for you, Buzzard - I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut, but you're the man.

better said than done huh ? I pray that everything will be nothing but good news for you both.

As for the cigarettes.....I quit smoking cold turkey Dec 18th 2007 from a 2 pack a day habit to notta...I was diagnosed with colon cancer March, 25th 2008....What timing...but, the good news is I haven't smoked one since Dec 18th 2007. I haven't quit, thats when I get in trouble, I just choose not to smoke each day. That gives me the opportunity to do so if I wish , but I don't wish to, and most likely never will. Thanks for the concern...Love and Hope, Buzz

It's ok to move the focus even for a bit
It was you, Muzzy, Diane, Phil, and Craig that first "encouraged me" to get the treatment I needed to beat a IIIB diagnosis. I remember the posts were pointed and stern. I also remember reading through the posts and having a minute to chuckle as some bantering you and Phil were having. Laughter is good medicine. Thank you for that!

    Whew.....
...it almost scared me to read this, but as reading it, I smiled ear to ear bro! you're so wonderful, and so glad that this came out great for you! I also quit smoking, about 7 years ago, and haven't had a cigarette since! much better without it, I'm glad I did! I also like to comfort people, and be encouraging, even though sometimes we need ourselves. I get my scans tomorrow, and probably won't know anything till I see the dr on the 19th what comes of it. I love reading whatever you write as well, you've always been there for me, and I will always be here for you as well!

    Love ya and Hugsss!
