Although it's supposed to be beautiful this weekend, it is raining and cold right now in DC. Just had my 3-month oncology check-up and blood draw, so that's out of the way. This weekend will probably be pretty quiet for us.

Tonight we'll probably just grab a bite to eat. I'm planning to peruse the Going Out section of the Washington Post for activities in a few minutes. We've kind of been spending too much lately, so I need to scale back. Speaking of spending too much, we had the cleaning service come today so it should be sparking when we get home from work tonight. One of my favorite things is to sink into a warm tub after it's been cleaned. Otherwise, it's filled with cat hair. Ewww.

Saturday night one of Simon's co-workers is having her 30th birthday party. She wants to re-live her 20's, so everyone is instructed to come dressed as though at a college sorority party. Women are supposed to look *****y... So, I might wear a trashy skirt and low-cut top. However, it won't look the same on me as it did 15 years ago. On second thought, this might be a sad party -- everyone trying to re-capture their college years and not looking so good doing it. I think it will be fueled by alcohol, so the beer googles will be on -- just like college. LOL.

Sunday, I really, really need and want to cook and tend to domestic matters, to prepare for the week.

So, ladies, please let me know what wild and crazy plans do YOU have for this Friday the 13th weekend?!

Mimi

Edited to add: Wow, I was censored! I meant to say that women are supposed to look S.K.A.N.K.Y. I realize it's in bad taste, but prohibited? LOL.

Well, it won't actually be too hard at all for me to re-live my 20's~tonight I am going to a Doobie Brothers Concert!!! S.k.a.n.k.y attire absoutley NOT required; the band members are all my age now! LOL My niece/daughter is going with me, as is Reggie. The good thing about raising her is that even at 24 she knows and loves almost all of "my" music from the 60's and 70's and more often than not she is listening to Classic Rock stations! Her Ipod cracks me up; among others she has Cat Stevens, ( who until recently was in retirement longer than she has been alive!) all of the Beatles and Stones, Journey~ even Tops and Temptations! Gotta love that girl!

I am still training my dog, and am in the leash-training phase. As he is mostly bloodhound his nose and attention are to the ground! He is a beautiful challenge to be sure! LOL

House is clean, laundry of course needs folding, dinner probably at the casino tonight before or after the show, all is good!

Hugs,
C♥

Well, I want to stay around here and clean on the house to get ready for my surgery next Wednesday. I want to have a nice, clean house when I leave and one to come home to afterwords. We would still probably have a pizza and watch a movie on Saturday night. I should be kind of done cleaning by then, but, who knows. lol And then hubby and I could spend some time together, alone, just eating pizza, watching a movie and "making out"! lol We may be married over 36 years, but, we are still madly in love with each other. Now, here's the problem...Hubby says no working for me this weekend. I am suppose to just rest and play the part of a queen. Yea, right. lol I guess we will see.

On Sunday, we are driving out to that little park in the country that noone remembers anymore and we are having a picnic there and just having some fun. It is suppose to be nice and warm, so, I am looking forward to it. And Stef, I will even look for my leaning tree!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Love, Jeanne ♥

making out and being so in love. I hope Simon and I are like that at 36 years. Have a very good, relaxing weekend, Jeanne. And, YES, you are the queen, so you should act like one!

Jeanne,
While it is nice to have the house all spanky clean, maybe you can just give it a general going over and then use the rest of the weekend to indeed be queen. The dirt will still be there next week and the week after. I am so less interested in cleaning than I was. My house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be homey. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And how nice that you will go out to your little park. If you can't find that specific tree then just use any strong looking substitute. Lean away and let the cares flow from you.
Isn't it nice to still be so in love after all this time? Den and I are still also very much in love. He completes me and I complete him.

I like your story! I think I might just start living by it! Ok? lol

Yes, we are both looking forward to going back to the park and spending a beautiful day together, eating, laughing, walking, just enjoying the serenity of the park. I am so glad that people don't come anymore. It is like our OWN little park and it is beautiful. I will post a pic of one of the roads for you to see on my Expressions Page.

And yes, it is nice to still love each other as much and more as the day we met. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him and still feel the same way. So very happy that Den and you are the same. It is rare anymore you know! And, I like being rare!

Love, Jeanne ♥

Chen
My daughter who is 34 took all my Cat Stevens, Melanie, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Beatles, and most everything else of ours. She loves that music and the current music, and opera, musical theater, belly dance, jazz, classical and international music of all kinds. She just loves music. It nice to share a love of music with your kids, nieces, nephews and the younger generations.
My weekend plans are tomorrow Den and I will go to Denise's and help her pack boxes for her move across the street. And we will watch the kids while she and Kyle move the boxes.
On Sunday, I am going back to our storage and continue the downsize. We are hoping to have just a few things left and we will move them into a much smaller and less expensive unit.
Not too exciting but that's okay. Eventually it will all be done and Den and I will relax in our new little house in the country. When we are settled we are getting fishing licenses and Linda and Den and I are going to learn to fly fish. And we plan to go with her to Las Vegas in the spring and to Yosemite also.

I'm dedicating this weekend to finding an ornament for my secret sister. This weekend shall not end until I find an ornament. This might mean I'll need the power to stop time. So if this weekend seems to go on forever...

We are going over to some friends house for a small dinner party. Really looking forward to it. It should be a lot of fun. And, I don't even have to take anything. Except we are taking a bottle of wine and some fresh flowers.

Sunday's are just our lazy, lay around days. The best kind!

HUGS TO ALL!

I lost almost a week between hospital and recovery. But I am feeling stronger and can go out of the house if I avoid lots of people..How do I do that? I need to get some meals cooked and put away so I am ready for round two. I want to find my ornament for my sister in pink. I know what I want not where to find it. Sunday is Church and work on Christmas present projects with my daughter. Hope everyone has great fun.

I am still on bedrest but with a twist. I have been given permission to "fold" laundry while sitting down. LOL....hubby has brought two baskets in to me so far and I hear the dryer still going...Whoa!
Although Doc is pleased, says we have a ways to go. She can feel the internal sutures have not disolved and I am still lopsided. Although, the pain is way, way better. (Not gone, but better) Had to laugh as hubby and Doc had a chat about how they hated to "fold" the laundry the most. Hmph!! Go ahead, give me the job everyone hates! (LOL) BUT, absolutely not allowed to reach up and put clothes on hangers away or bend over and put things in bottom drawers, or empty dishwasher, etc.
Sigh, guess I'll just have to live with it for 4 more weeks (giggle). Pammy

I'm glad you're feeling better Pammy, but folding laundry? Geez. Maybe you could instruct hubby on the right way to do it and then just watch! You keep taking it easy and let yourself heal. I hope you have a restful weekend.

Well, I'm home from work. The house is sparkling clean, which is great. Waiting for Simon so we can go out for a relaxing night of Greek food and cocktails. I'm getting so hungry!

Where is that man? I'm starving here! Spanikopita, Greek pizza, feta cheese, grape leaves. If he doesn't get here soon, I'm gonna take a page from Tasha's dog and eat the furniture.

He's here!! Time to eat. See you guys later!

So, I'll be dreaming this weekend, oh, and going to Long Beach for Sunday antique market.

This coming Wednesday I have my holter monitor and my echo scheduled. And, I had my ultrasound of my carotid arteries today...of course, the tech couldn't tell me anything...sigh...

I feel so much better off the AC that I wasnt thinking. i still forget to eat as i dont care for food. One reason I went to the store was to buy myself a coat because mine does not fit. This sounds sad but I am shaking my head and laughing at myself dor being so dumb. How old am I? Anyways i need some things and I will just have ot have hubby or friend take me for a bit longer I guess. and not forget to eat.

I know you don't feel like it, but you must eat something. Have your hubby shop and cook nutritious meals and then just sit down at a designated time and eat a little. Glad you are doing better today. Have a relaxing weekend.

That sounds amazing, Kathi. I've only been to Bermuda on a cruise, but had a really good time. That's a great price for a transatlantic cruise. And a balcony! It should be so relaxing. Have a great time!

A cruise from Rome to Ft Lauderdale...how romantic and wonderful that sounds. Something you can dream about while you get those tests out of the way, Kathi. I will be thinking of you on Wednesday and hoping for the best news asap on all the tests.

Well, I am sitting up in bed, drinking green tea and planning my day. I noticed yesterday that my hair has grown into an afro. Since I've never had curly hair, I didn't realize that it grew upwards instead of down! So, I scheduled a haircut at my salon for 10:30 this morning. Too late to bus it, don't feel like driving, so I guess I'll call a cab in a bit. Simon is always a pain in the a** about driving me places. Then I'll grab breakfast in old town and head over to the gym for my personal training session. Then it's back home, in the tub, and then start to get ready for the party tonight. Maybe I'll finally get on chat as I fix myself a nice White Russian. Oh year, I need to pick up a good vodka and Kahlua.

Hope everyone is doing great and making the most of the day!

Been running around "like a chicken with my head cutoff" (I've actually seen this and it is how I must be looking today.)
Right after I was diagnosed, I fell back to making jewelry - my destresser. Well, this weekend (tomorrow from 1-6) there is a downtown craft fair. I'm set to go. Got 80 pairs of earrings and several matching earring pendant sets ready to go. Finished making the display today.
My daughter told me I had to stop buying stones, findings, etc. a couple weeks ago. I did get carried away. I'm excited about it. I use semi-precious stones and connect them to the body's Chakras - each stone is associated with one.
That is my tomorrow. I hope the trades come in a bit so it's not too hot.

Wish me luck. I hope to sell plenty. Lola

Moopster is finished with her six weeks of training for her new role. As you would expect, she did spectacularly. Her new supervisor led her down to her new work area, where her new teammates had put up a huge signed banner saying "WELCOME TO THE TEAM, LISA!" But my poor little kitten was so exhausted that all she wanted for a celebratory dinner Friday evening was a soup-and-sandwich combo at her favorite bread shop ("F*ck*n' Panera," as I fondly call it).

She did perk up quite a bit yesterday, though. We spent two hours at the doggie park with our beasts in the morning, and went to a nice Italian restaurant for a late lunch. In the evening I watched with delight as she went to town with her 30% discount coupon at JC Penney. She celebrated her successful expedition with hot chocolate at Starbuck's. Ass that I am, I had a tall coffee with espresso and stayed up until 2:00 am. All in all, a wonderful day.

I woke up to the delightful sound of Moopy chirping away on the phone with her stepmother in Tennessee. She is definitely on a roll. But literally each and every time I start to get a bit annoyed about her plans for shopping expeditions, or what we should buy for the house, or would I mind going to F*ck*n' Panera... I instantly remember that this is exactly what I have been praying for over the last 12 months. And believe you me, I thank God from the bottom of my heart.

You know that "new normal" we often talk about, Joe? I am smiling thinking that it seems you and your darling Moopy actually got your OLD normal back...with enough humility in the mix to nudge you in the rib-cage, albeit ever so gently , when you need a subtle reminder of what your lives were like last year at this time. But there is even a blessing in needing a reminder, isn't there? That things actually do fade in the recesses of our minds, and we get to move forward is incredible, isn't it? Ahhhhhhhh!

hugs,
C♥

Stef, I about fell off the couch laughing after I read your comment about Panera. As Carkris wrote, it IS nutritious food. Seriously!

Unfortunately, Bloody Marys and oysters are not served, so I have to live vicariously through Mimi's posts for those pleasures, as well as the excitement of living in a unique, exciting city. I do enjoy reading about your weekends in the city, Mimi. Also, like Jackie, I would love to see your new 'do.

Thank you, Chen, for remembering it was this time last year when Joe's and my life did change---and for your wise words. Our quiet happiness is greater because it is shared with you and our dear friends here.

Wishing you all a pleasant, peaceful evening and a good week, in all ways.

Joe
All the kidding we do at your expense aside, you are one hell-of-a guy. Isn't it great that you get the twinges of annoyance at the "Normal" things. It means you both have come so far. And that you remind yourself that this was your dream at the start of this journey, how wonderful. May you both be blessed with more and more "normal" annoyances. Let the dream go on.
By the way, I have never been to F*ck*n' Panera but I might have to try it. I think we have one in Vacaville but they dropped the F*ck*n' from the name. Don't know why.
And Congrats again to Moopy on her new role. What a gal! What a guy! What a couple! Love ya both.

I do remember well the Hell of last year, and we do have so very much to be thankful for this year, looking back it hardly seems real but we made it! And I am so proud of your beloved wife and my dear friend I don't know what I would have done without you two lovebirds!

Mimi, I would love to see a pic of your new hairstyle...I thought I might let mine grow and get it done right before christmas. I hope all of my pink sisters had a wonderful weekend.

and Joe, do you really think Effy should be smoking???
