I guess I'm excited about having a long weekend. I've used up most of my sick and vacation leave on my treatments, so this is a long-awaited weekend for me. I will be working from home tomorrow, which means that I probably won't be on the boards. Friday I am off!

To kick off the weekend, I'll probably go to the gym after work for a body sculpting class (silly name - I am hardly sculpted, nor can I imagine it) and then go to happy hour with Simon and his co-workers. I forgot my bandana today, but I don't know if I'm brave enough to exercise with my buzz cut!! I'm still extremely self conscious.

Thursday I am working at home and trying (finally) to organize my closet and handle my finances.

On Friday, I scored tickets to a much-praised performance of King Lear at the DC Shakespeare Theater. That theater reserves a small number of $10 seats for persons 35 and under (trying to get them addicted). So, I got two $160 tickets for $20!! So excited about that.

No plans for the 4th yet. Maybe a quiet day of grilling, just the two of us and our cats.

Now it's your turn: PLANS?!

    Happy 4th
    Mimi!
It sounds as if you will be celebrating the 4th in Grand Style~ and you sooo deserve to! Have a great time!!!

You know already what I am doing~ getting as far away from what is generally a bucolic town as possible...latest is, the "advance work" is being set up at Neverland now, and with the public viewing on Friday, it is now thought he may even be buried here on Sunday. As I mentioned earlier, the ranch is a mere ten minute drive from my house, so the sooner we get out of here, the better!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

For the first time since my dx, I am actually getting "away".. We are packing up Thursday evening and heading down to the lake where my sister has a lake house and boat.. we are going to just kick back on the deck, or boat and watch the water pass by.. and depending on how hot it is... and how brave I'm feeling, I may even jump in a time or two.. (or how much jungle juice I drink...lol) Saturday evening we will take the boat down the main channel towards the dam and watch the fireworks display that they put on every year... it is a beautiful show... bbq with my nephews.. hang out with the family.. I am so looking forward to it..

Mimi.. I love the theater... those tickets sound like an incrediably awesome deal.. good for you~!

And Claudia I would be getting out of there too... !!!! The nightmare of crowds.. yuck.. good luck getting out...

    Love the weekend!
We are heading back down to our cabin on the lake for the holiday weekend. We did get it cleaned up last weekend finally. It really wasn't that bad. And, I have to admit, my hubby did most of the cleaning. I pulled the " I just am so tired routine". lol Ok, BAD ME! But, it works! :) We have friends coming down the weekend too, some will stay with us and some just for the 4th barbeque and the fireworks. So, we will have lots of food and drinks for everyone! Looking forward to it! The fireworks over the lake are beautiful! Very romantic! ;)

Sunday, my hubby might come back to our hometown to march in the veteran's parade. He has before, just not for sure if he will do it this year, since we are going to be at the lake and will have friends with us, but, he probably will. He is a very proud veteran!

Wishing all of you a safe and fun holiday weekend!

    Love, Jeanne

    Enjoy your long weekend!
I know what you mean about no vac/personal time left. Congrats on the King Lear tickets for $20 apiece. King Lear was alway my favorite of the tragedies. I remember the injunction to "see better."

My beloved sister Jackie is coming to visit us for the weekend. We are both so excited. I'm hoping I have enough energy to get out and about with her. We hope to go to the Fireworks show either at the Arch or on the river in "historic" St. Charles. Also, may get to an Italian restaurant on The Hill, a well-known Italian neighborhood. Jackie has spent a week seeing the sights in St. Louis, so not sure where she will want to go. We may also visit the Ameristar, a casino on the Missouri with a mall and good restaurants, they tell me.

Then again, we may watch movies in the theater room here at the complex or lounge by the pool, me swathed in clothing and head coverings, of course.

Thanks, Mimi, for your great idea for us to share plans like this. I always enjoy reading about everyone's activities. Wishing all of you a happy and safe Fourth of July.

    Great weekend coming up.
I'm pretty excited about the weekend. Last weekend we had my son's graduation party from HS. Had over 30 ppl in my backyard and it turned out to be beautiful. Nice warm weather, NO RAIN, and family and close friends. This weekend I'm getting ready for VACATION. And.... if those of you that know me haven't figured out where I'm going ,my favorite vacation spot, Punta Cana. LOL! Where else would I go????? We leave on Monday for 11 glorious days of fun, sun and beach. Can't wait. And of course..... the drinks on the beach. Oh, Baby!!!!! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Toast with me on Sunday, as it will be my birthday, and I'm very happy to be celebrating it. Hugs to all, Lili

I asked 'so, what's for the 4th of July?'...
And I got a bunch of mystified Dutch faces. It was then, of course, I remembered....this day doesn't mean much to the Dutch...lol...

I planted red, white, and blue petunias out front. I got complements on the colors of the Dutch flag...also red, white, and blue...ROFL!

So, Saturday I am going to bar-be-que...and make potato salad, and coleslaw...and the all-american hamburgers!!! I'm going to hunt up some sparklers left from New Years Eve (fireworks on the 1st are a MUST here...50 mill euros spent last year alone...), and sing happy birthday to America songs...

    Hugs, Kathi

    The Fourth......
Well, if this holiday weekend is like every other Fourth, I will be spending my time trying to keep Kelly the dog calm while neighborhood kids set of firecrackers for four days.

Hoping hubby will ne HOME by this weekend....oh please, oh please, oh please!! Then he can sit in a lawn chair and tell me that I'm not grilling his burger correctly.

See, I don't want much out of life...lol!!

BTW, my daughter sneaked our 6 yr. old grandson up to see hubby last night at the hospital. He has missed the kids SO MUCH!!
Several of the nurses on the floor "spotted" the crime in progress, but smiled & looked the other way.
Hubby was still smiling this morning when I got there, so the brief visit cheered him immensely!

Sounds like everyone is having a great weekend
CR, I hope your hubby comes home, too. That would be a real celebration.

As for me, I'll be waiting to hear about my mom. If things don't improve, I will be taking an unplanned trip to TN this week-end. The only certain plans I have, that is if my mom improves, is a Dog Walk on Sunday to help raise money and awareness for animal adoption. We, my hubby and I, may go to the fireworks, but I don't know how my Emmy will react to fireworks since this is her first 4th with us. Michael, the soon-to-be-retired guide dog, hates them and will be a mess as always.

I need to finish my last garden, so I hope to have it ready for the young man next door to do some of the heavier work by Friday.

Hope everyone enjoys their respective week-ends.

Sounds like everyone has something to do.

I have off from rads Friday and my hubby is home too. I will probably take my 6 year old out for a bit, she is dying for time alone with me. Then to work Friday at 3pm til Saturday night 5pm. Sunday morning 7am, ugh, we will be at a horse show. My 6 year old is competing. Then I will take out my 4 year old for her turn with mommy time.

Hoping the rain stops, it has been raining here for weeks!
    Enjoy the weekend everyone,
