My friends and coworkers named a Relay For Life team in my honor this year. It is called "Jeanne's Dream Team". And, on the front of the tshirt, as you can see in my new picture, is I Dream Of Jeanne. I have been so touched by their honoring of me with this team that words can't describe it. They came in 2nd place in the entire county in fund raising money! I couldn't believe it. They all worked so hard. My husband and my family also raised money to help and will be walking with me tonight at the Relay. This will be my first one and I admit that I am a bit tentative about going. I have heard how emotional they can be and I don't know if I am ready for that. I have been thru so much already and just finished my radiation treatments last week and feel kind of lost not going to those. And, by not going to my daily radiation treatment everyday, my mind has had more time to think stuff that I don't want to think about. So, I hesitantly will walk tonight. My husband, friends and family are 100% plus behind me, with me and will carry me, if need be. lol While I walk the survivor lap tonight, I, as Claudia did, will be thinking of all of you and saying your names as you will all be with me in mind and spirit. And, I will be praying for a CURE! So, if your ears start burning tonight, know that I just mentioned your name in the Relay For LIFE! Love, Jeanne

p.s. On my expression page, I posted the pic of the front and of the back of the tshirt for the Relay For Life of the team in my honor. The back is so cute..it has a little Jeanne/Genie bottle. And, the front is the Jeanne/Genie ( me ) lol coming out of the bottle.

    Moopy's First Relay
    Jeanne,

Moopy was a little tentative about going to her first Relay last night, too. She's bouncing back from her final chemo but she's still extremely tired. But she had been personally invited by Jennifer, a nice young woman who works at the Cancer Center (and herself a survivor of Ewing's Sarcoma), to join her as one of the Torchbearers. An unexpected honor like that is not to be turned down!

    image

The survivor lap was incredibly moving, and so was interacting with all the wonderful people who came - survivors, caregivers, and just people who care enough to join our common fight.

By the time of the torch relay, Moopy was pretty beat. Of course, going home early was not an option. Moopy and Jennifer were the eighth and final team to carry the torch, and by the time the torch got to them it had started to POUR! I am proud to say, though, that they did not let their fellow survivors down.

There were tears in my eyes as I watched my beloved Moopster carry the torch through the rain. But as you all know, it was a much more emotional experience for her. So I will leave it to her to describe once she has rested up a little bit - but she insisted I let everyone know that she was thinking of her sisters and brothers on this board with every single step she took.

So please don't worry, Jeanne. You will have a wonderful and uplifting time, and so will all your loved ones who'll be there to support you. Trust me on this!

    a request, Jeanne
Hope you have a wonderful experience tonight. I will be thinking of you.
Please walk in memory of my mom, too. Her name is Nita and she fought breast cancer twice.
She went to be with Jesus May 13, 2005.

She walked in the Relay her last two years of life and was such a trooper. I miss her so much.

Thanks for walking for all your sisters, too :-)

    Love and prayers,

    Debbie

    New nickname for you: GENIE!!!
You GO, girl! It's wonderful that your support team includes family, friends and coworkers! And what a heartfelt tribute - for the team to walk in YOUR honor! Congratulations for your first Relay for Life! And great big THANK YOU - to you, your family & friends, and your coworkers - for both the fundraising & awareness efforts you and they have worked so hard at. This means so very, very much - to all of us, and for the future. I will be walking beside you tonight, in spirit!

Your hesitancy is understandable. But, I promise - it will be a truly moving, in a good way, experience. Well worth the effort! Afterwards, please be sure to let us know how it all went.

The t-shirt is AWESOME! So is the team name! As a little girl, I absolutely LOVED that show! (Bewitched was my other favorite!) Wished I could get small enough to fit inside that bottle! Ha ha! And, in honor of your Relay Team & shirt - I hereby officially dub you GENIE, your new nickname on the board! (It'll reduce all the various spellings that attempt to get the pronunciation correct!)

You'll have an extraordinary time later today, you'll see! Warmest best wishes to you, Genie - and to your team. Again, with sincere thanks!

    Kind regards, Susan

THANK YOU, both, for participating in your first Relay for Life last night! And what an honor, I totally agree, for Moopy to carry the torch! So tired, in the rain - tough little thing she is, tough in a good way! Of course, we already knew that, yes? :-)

Joe - thanks, also, for letting us all know.

    Kind regards, Susan

    What an honor Jeanne!
I am wishing you all the best at your first Relay for Life. You will be fine. If you get nervous, just think of what your friends, family and coworkers have done for you. And, think of how far you have come. Be proud of yourself and walk proudly. And, thanks for including us in your walk. Enjoy it! Kristin

    I Dream of Jeanie, Too!
Jeanne, I am so happy that Jeanne's dream team will be walking tonight. A whole team, raising so much money--all that is an honor you so deserve. Clearly, your kindness, strength, and good humor are evident to all who have met you, in person or not.

I know what you mean about being nervous about attending a Relay. I was scared that my fear of recurrence would overwhelm me. I went only because I could not let down my friend Jennifer. But, you know what? It was not emotionally difficult at all. It was uplifting and fun and moving. Yes, I did cry, but not from fear. I am so glad that I participated. I am looking forward already to the next Relay.

One caution: in my excitement, I did overdo. I am drained today. So, do try not to walk more than you are up to. It is easy to do when you are enjoying yourself and excited.

I love your t-shirt, front and back, too. If you can get any photos of your team and the night, we would love to see them.

Finally, I also thank you and your friends and family. Y'all are walking for us all.

Congrats to both of you--Jeanne and Moopy.
I am participating in my first one in June and am looking forward to it.
I have already set myself to walk the survivors lap and lighting of the candles and names announced. Go home rest and then go back in the morning to walk some laps.

Am so darn proud of you, Moopy! Just out of chemo, I could not have done what you did last night! So very glad it was a positive experience for you, dear! Uplifting and moving are perfect descriptives!

Those new shoes came in handy, eh? :-)

Did you wear the Skechers or the Easy Spirit pair? :-)

And a note to Aortus: OK, NOW we understand the utter desperation behind your request for a "virtual intervention" to get Moopy to buy new shoes!!! She REALLY needed them to walk the Relay!

    Kind regards, Susan
