I Will Be Walking In The Relay For Life Today!!!!!!!
p.s. On my expression page, I posted the pic of the front and of the back of the tshirt for the Relay For Life of the team in my honor. The back is so cute..it has a little Jeanne/Genie bottle. And, the front is the Jeanne/Genie ( me ) lol coming out of the bottle.

Moopy's First Relay
Jeanne,
Moopy was a little tentative about going to her first Relay last night, too. She's bouncing back from her final chemo but she's still extremely tired. But she had been personally invited by Jennifer, a nice young woman who works at the Cancer Center (and herself a survivor of Ewing's Sarcoma), to join her as one of the Torchbearers. An unexpected honor like that is not to be turned down!
The survivor lap was incredibly moving, and so was interacting with all the wonderful people who came - survivors, caregivers, and just people who care enough to join our common fight.
By the time of the torch relay, Moopy was pretty beat. Of course, going home early was not an option. Moopy and Jennifer were the eighth and final team to carry the torch, and by the time the torch got to them it had started to POUR! I am proud to say, though, that they did not let their fellow survivors down.
There were tears in my eyes as I watched my beloved Moopster carry the torch through the rain. But as you all know, it was a much more emotional experience for her. So I will leave it to her to describe once she has rested up a little bit - but she insisted I let everyone know that she was thinking of her sisters and brothers on this board with every single step she took.
So please don't worry, Jeanne. You will have a wonderful and uplifting time, and so will all your loved ones who'll be there to support you. Trust me on this!0 -

She went to be with Jesus May 13, 2005.
She walked in the Relay her last two years of life and was such a trooper. I miss her so much.

Moopy, I am so very proud of you. What an honor to carry the torch. I also have tears in my eyes as i picture our brave little Moopy carrying it in the rain. You have touched my heart. Congratulations for your first Relay for Life! And great big THANK YOU - to you, your family & friends, and your coworkers - for both the fundraising & awareness efforts you and they have worked so hard at. This means so very, very much - to all of us, and for the future. I will be walking beside you tonight, in spirit!
Your hesitancy is understandable. But, I promise - it will be a truly moving, in a good way, experience. Well worth the effort! Afterwards, please be sure to let us know how it all went.
The t-shirt is AWESOME! So is the team name! As a little girl, I absolutely LOVED that show! (Bewitched was my other favorite!) Wished I could get small enough to fit inside that bottle! Ha ha! I Dream of Jeanie, Too!
Jeanne, I am so happy that Jeanne's dream team will be walking tonight. A whole team, raising so much money--all that is an honor you so deserve. Clearly, your kindness, strength, and good humor are evident to all who have met you, in person or not.
I know what you mean about being nervous about attending a Relay. I was scared that my fear of recurrence would overwhelm me. I went only because I could not let down my friend Jennifer. But, you know what? It was not emotionally difficult at all. It was uplifting and fun and moving. Yes, I did cry, but not from fear. I am so glad that I participated. I am looking forward already to the next Relay.
One caution: in my excitement, I did overdo. I am drained today. So, do try not to walk more than you are up to. It is easy to do when you are enjoying yourself and excited.
I love your t-shirt, front and back, too. If you can get any photos of your team and the night, we would love to see them.
Finally, I also thank you and your friends and family. Y'all are walking for us all.0 -
