    What are you talking about?
Your message was confusing, what are you talking about. Must have been bad for you, the Molly Brown of the board to have been down and feeling sorry for yourself. Don't you know that Kansans of the Navy brat stripe aren't allowed to be bummed out for very long?

Know too that everyone on this board cares about you and is lifting you up. In fact, people on this board never stop lifting each other up.

So, beaucoup hugs for you! Don't go deedeemau (crazy) on me. That's what some of the Vietnamese used to say about us "Daiwees", better known as Lieutenants.

    no worries!
    Hi Kathi,

I'm glad to hear you're better now, but don't feel too bad that you were complaining. Everyone needs to let it out now and then! People I know often ask me how I can stay so positive through all the cancer treatment so, when I get the occasional blues about it all, I tend to feel guilty and am a little hard on myself. You're allowed- no worries!
Others here on this board certainly understand.

    Take care dear,
    Lisa

Yep, everyone here knows you and you're not a complainer....good to see heart wrenching honesty at times....we all go through that! Happy your feeling better.
P.S. Don't tell anyone but I missed church sunday so I could stay at home and talk to God without anyone else knowing....we had a great time together...I cried,I read His Word, He listened and I walked away feeling loved and strengthed :)Hope you too are ready to live today to the fullest. I'm going to Ga. to visit friends...and if that Xeloda bothers me ...I might miss a few tabs but not the enjoyment of life!!!!

    You all are my guides....
The original post was about missing my daughter. Her birthday is the 12th of this month. Also lots of others that I had to say 'goodbye' to recently....all with reminders in December.

But, I will say, that soon after I posted it, I thought about what a baby I was. You warriors are actively facing the beast. You don't need bothering by junk like it was. I tried to delete the post altogether, but couldn't find the button...lol...I'm a computer consultant, you'd think I could...

So, I changed the text. And I love that you guys sought to comfort this old battleaxe anyway. To be honest, your responses have filled my heart and given me the peace I was looking for. Thank you so much for that!

    Hugs, Kathi

Sorry, dearheart, I'm already 'deedeemau'! WHAT a DELIGHTFUL word!!!! In Dutch it's 'gek'(the 'g' sound is just clearing your throat...lol)! Thanks for the kind words!

    I heard 'Oh, Holy Night'....
Josh Grobin was singing it....it took my breath away, and reminded me of the best thing about December...

Thank you, sweet soul, for the comforting words....

    Kathi,

I missed your original message, but between you and me -- I'm having trouble with the holiday spirit this year. Feeling sorry for myself is all....been a really rough year all around. I've decided to feel sorry today yet (chemo again tomorrow)then I'm back! Today I'll pout, pamper myself with a long soak in the tub, lay around on the computer. Tomorrow I'll pick up my attitude, decorate my IV pole with Christmas garland, put on BIG earrings and return to my normal self.

I hope that momentary blues is what hit you because I know you won't have trouble overcoming that. Just know that it sometimes helps ME to know that other very positive people have tough moments/days, too. I feel guilty whining when I KNOW how much better I have things than so many others, and yet, here I am.

Thank you for venting and making it better for me today.

    I agree, it sucks!
Aw, Mary....I tried to delete the whole post....you are right, it helped to get it out...

NEXT time, I'll use a piece of paper and a pencil...ripping up my computer and throwing it away is much, much too time-consuming!!!

Thank you, Mary, you are such a wonderful, comforting angel!

    What a grand turnaround!!!
Thank you for the positive spin on my negative feelings!

Yes, it WAS the temporary blues...and my beau is taking me away for the weekend to make me feel better...

I LOVE your idea of the garland on the pole...I will smile tomorrow, imagining you with your tinsel and big earrings!

    We are in this together!
Remember, we all have to vent. You were the first person on this list to comfort me when I was a "raw recruit" with a new DX. You listened and it helped. I offer the same to you. anytime!

    So funny
When I started radiation treatments, my feet were cold, so I wore a pair of fuzzy, ugly socks. the techs loved it, so every day I wear 'fugly' socks. Last week I took fugly Christmas light up socks for every tech & the doctor. Now when I go in, they don't say "Are you OK?" in that sad voice, they all yell "Let's see today's socks!" My daughter recruited her friends to send me socks from all over the country. My collection is huge...and may I say it - Butt Ugly!!

    Whatever it takes....Vicki

    Fugly socks, love it
i like your socks idea, esp. getting them for all those who help you. Can you imagine how they must feel if they have even a modicum of humanity when they work with those of us with cancer?

If you ever want to really make a statement, go to www.colossalgram.com. It's a web based business and you can order these giant pink or yellow telegrams that measurer about 3x5 feet. I sent one to my primary, my surgeon, the gastro doc and the nurses station at the hospital where I had my operation. The message was simple: Thank you for saving my life! You're part of a great medical team! Almost made my primary cry when I saw him and the surgeon loved it as did the others. Each office had it up and proudly displayed. I have a hunch few people thank them for their care and healing efforts. My message was sincere and to the point.

My wife, Mary knits and she and my daughter have been knitting "watchcaps" for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. I put that in quotes because they kept calling them hats and no self-respecting military person would wear anything other than a watchcap! Sheesh. They had to be wool, because acrylic yarn could melt in a fire. Not good. i think between the two of them, they sent 40.

Check out that web site, these are great for other occasions.

    I sent my surgeons Godiva....
    And the card said:

"I came with a colon, left with a semi-colon, and lost my period. Such are the punctuations of my cancer journey" (I had a total hysterectomy during my bowel resection).

I love your posts - I am sorry I missed the one this refers too
Every one deserves a time to whine and complain. It makes the rest of us feel more human.

Your posts have helped me through some pretty up and down times these past 4 months (I have had CEA blips) but am OK.

I have a great admiration and respect for your positive attitude. It would be great if more people with 3 or 4 years of history posted regularly.

    Kathi,

Just looking at your sweet picture makes me feel happy, and then you are always so sweet and positive, that makes it better.

Don't ever feel bad about venting. Everybody needs to do it once in awhile!
