Hello,

You may want to do a search of the Personal Web pages to see if you can find someone with a similar experience. To do this, click on personal web pages on the left hand side of this page. Then enter the search criteria you are looking for, including key words such as neuropathy.

If you find someone you would like to connect with, you can do so through the CSN internal email system. For more information on all of the CSN functions, click on the help link at the top fo this page.

Take care and be well,

Dana

DarrellD,
Hi. My name is Chris and my mother (60 years old) just recently completed her second stem cell transplant at the institute in Arkansas a month ago. She had the same trouble when it came to walking. Apparently some of the other patients had the same side-effect, too. Just a warning... be sure to walk when you're able to around the hospital floor. Do it as much as your body allows (and the nursing staff allows. Ha.) I say this because my mother ended up getting blood clots in her chest and her lungs because she didn't move around too much. As a result, when she got released from the hospital and returned home, she had to be checked into the local hospital for the pulmonary embolism. Now she's on warafin to thin her blood. Right now, she's having trouble walking again because of the discomfort in her legs and the trouble breathing... all due to the clots. Also important... make sure they use dye if they can when they give you your ultrasound. As a precaution to avoid anymore damage to my mother's kidneys, they didn't use dye in Arkansas and missed catching the clots. So, she has to deal with it now that she's back home. Good luck with everything and I'll keep you in my thoughts. This is all recent for my family, too, so we're taking it day by day and we're continuing to learn. Take care.

Chris
