Several messages ago some one said they were receiving a 12 month series of taxotere. Can anyone tell me what this is? I just finished chemo in Dec. and not doing any other kind of treatment. Also, I'm having my 1 visit after chemo with my ongologist in April and he said that I wouldn't need to get a blood count. I think he's nuts!!! I want to know what's going on! What do you think? Thanks

Hello,

Congratulations on finishing your chemotherapy! You may want to consider contacting the American Cancer Society's National Cancer Information Center. Cancer Information Specialists are available 24 hours a day and may be able to assist you with your question. You can contact them at 1-800-227-2345.

Take care and be well,

There is a description of taxotere (docetaxel) on the American Cancer Society's main site. What type of chemo did you have? Was it for ovarian cancer? For ovarian, most doctors would do follow-ups every three months for two years, then if everything was going well, would go to every 6 months. A blood count would be done for white & red blood cells. Do you mean a CA-125 level? Ask more questions, and don't panic. I'm sure there's a good reason for their protocol.
