One year check

Can you believe I finished treatment a YEAR ago?  I had my one year check yesterday, which consisted of an intense physical exam of my mouth, throat and jaw areas.  Mostly using his hands and tongue depressers.  They did bloodwork and two chest xrays (basically from my chin to my hip bones)  I haven't heard anything yet and I swear waiting is the WORST!  Just checking in to say hello to everyone and let you know I'm thinking of you all.  This is summer camp season and I'm busy about 12 hours a day!  For those of you who are new....if I can make it through...anyone can!  CSN is such a wonderful group of people and I'm blessed to know you all.

    Hiya!

Thanks for checking back. It was like yesterday when you were so down and ready to just stop treatment. The power of the group here gave you the strength to keep moving one day at a time. You have been through a LOT of changes the past year but seem very busy and happy. Check in now and then, always great to hear the good stories. Don

    Glad you're doing good.

Yes the waiting is the hardest of all, but one year is such great news and only will get better.

    1 Year

Tracy, my one year date was last week (June 11th to be exact) so we're on the same schedule.  My ENT did the scope up the nose and down the throat and probed, felt, pushed, etc and all was good.  I get my next CT scan in August but am not worried at all as there's nothing i can do about it so why worry (my new philosophy on life:)).

When I think back to how bad I felt this time last year and how good I feel today, I can't believe I am thinking about the same person.  I hope you feel the same and appreciate every day more than you ever did in the past.    A few little "reminders" but nothing that impacts my quality of life and limits anything i want to do.

To all those just starting, it is now just a distant memory and life is good, an you will be there as well.  To Robyn, our new friend from Australia who is just starting the journey, and Bunnymom, you will get through this and it will be over before you know it.    Stay strong, focus on the end point and not the in between, and you will do great and back to living life to the fullest before you know it.

Glad to hear you're doing well and I know everyhing will come back fine from the doctor.

    All the best,

    Keith

    TL,

    Wow, 1 year!  Congratulations!

Summer Camp sounds fun.  How’s camp food?

Scanxiety, examxiety, x-rayxiety, you are truly H&N normal.

    Best always,

    Matt

    Hi Tracy

One year is great. As I said on FB, two will be here before you know it. The wait between the tests and the results is what keeps us so young looking. They did tell me I can call and get results a day or two after the tests.

Have fun at camp. Hot dogs on a stick over the fire, gormet to say the least.
