The Love of a Child

I have a cute and somewhat humorous story. In 2007 I was dx with cancer for the 3rd time and of course chemo was required, to say that I was not happy about it is an understatement. Well, I went in had the chemo came home and pretty much slept the rest of the day. When I awoke the next day I felt pretty poorly, however I decided it would be best to lie on the couch so as not to isolate myself. After a bit my 2 1/2 year old grandson Ian came bouncing in and realized I was ill he immediately put on his Mr. Potato Head glasses got his stickers and started to decorate my face with them, he pretty much covered my face with Batman and Spiderman stickers. He said they were medicine to make me better. Well let me tell you by the time he was done I looked ridiculous, he looked silly with those tiny yellow Mr. Potato Head glasses on and everyone in the room was laughing, me included! The little guy showed his love the only way he knew how and it was exactly what I needed. Like I often have said we simply cannot let cancer steal our joy, little Ian took care of it on that day.

    RE--love the story.
On Easter Sunday I was balder than bald and my 5 yr old then got out his washable markers and he drew Easter Eggs on my head and we went to church--most people appreciated it but a few didn't.

The things kids do for and to us are special memories and that will always be in my memories.

    Hugs,
    Margo
