My brother-in-law was diagnosed with stomach cancer May 2004. Had very large tumor, nodes and 3/4's of his stomach removed in July. He weighted 250 lbs and now weights 128lbs. He had fluid in his stomach which was draining from a tube and than the hole healed up but his stomach keep getting bigger and bigger. He wasn't able to eat because everything tasted terrible. He went and the drained 7 liters and he ate good for a few days and than it built up again. When he went into the hospital the fluid was not only in his belly it was around his left lung which moved his heart, lung and throat all to the right. They drained the fluid, they thought and put in this powder to stick his lung to his back and 3 hours after the procedure his lung collapsed because of the fluid in his chest or a reaction to the powder. Was on life surport and in a coma for 10 days. He is home now and eating pretty good, he has very little fluid coming from his belly but has to go back into hospital and have two chest tubes put in to drain 2 pockets around his lungs. They have done cat-scans and checked the fluids and they can't find any signs of cancer. Has anyone else having or had these problems and what did the doctors do for you. Al's sister-in-law

HI I AM VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR BROTHER-IN LAW MY DAD WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED IN 2000--HE HAD PARTIAL GASTRECTOMY FOLLOWED WITH CHEMO AND RADIATION. UNBELIEVABLY HE NEVER LOST A POUND AND WAS BACK TO RUNNING, GOLFING, ETC. HOWEVER LAST FALL THIS HORRIBLE DISEASE RETURNED IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT. HE HAS LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT THIS TIME AND IS ON A FEEDING TUBE BECAUSE HIS STOMACH OPENING IS BLOCKED BY THE TUMOR. HE HAS HAD FLUID DRAINED FROM HIS LUNG TWICE NOW. FROM WHAT I READ THIS IS CAUSED FROM THE CANCER. ITS JUST HORRIBLE BECAUSE HE HASNT HAD A BITE OF FOOD OR DRINK IN A YEAR NOW!!! ITS SO HARD TO FATHOM! MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

Zellars I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Can they not remove the tumor or do radiation/chemo? Thank you for your reply. It was prayers that kept my brother-in-law alive when he was in ICU and we keep praying. Our prayers are with you and your family.
