It's back.....

Options

I haven't been on this site for a long time, my husband had scc unknown primary, 1 lymph node back in 2013.  He was going on 4 yrs when his ENT felt something suspicious in his throat.  Had biopsies and was found to have Base of Tongue cancer, 4 cm tumor.  This was removed last week surgically by robot (Divinci) and he did very well.  All cancer was removed, no metastisis, no other tx as apparently the gold standard is radiation and chemo, but he's already had his lifetime amount of radiation and can't have it again. This was also HPV positive.   He will begin speech therapy next week but otherwise appears to be healing well.

I just keep thinking, how many times will this come back? And why? :(

    and it's not welcome

    Sunshine60,

You’ve already paid your dues it is not supposed to come back, but the sneaky stuff that it is, it did.  Sounds like they instituted a good treatment to take care of it.

While nobody want new rads, there are plenty on here who have gone down that road 2 times, but I guess it is the cumulative exposure that they look at.

    Sorry about this crap.

    Matt

    stay positive

Hello, when my mom's cancer came back she could not have more rads as it was too soon. It was treated with surgery only. It will be her anniversary on 3/2/17 since then, 5 years NED. Stay positive, he still can be cured with the surgery which he just had.

    Good luck to you both!!!

    Darn

The blessing was how they were able to quickly get it. It seems there is no rhyme or reason on why these cells come back. In my prayers!
