I have anal, colorectal sigmoid/rectum, breast and non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I have done chemo/ radiation and am still doing it but I was in the hospital last week and my left hips was popping and hurt did a PET and bone scan.  My hip has bone cancer . I had surgery. I still have a temporary ileostomy and had a left mastectomy. My white blood cells won't stay up I went to the Dr today my dr told me to go to urgent care I have strep throat and thrush. When I go in a few hours for treatments I have to have infusions of Zometawhich  Can Help Reduce Recurrence Risk of Hormone-Receptor-Positive Disease. Zometa (chemical name: zoledronic acid) is used to strengthen bones and lower the risk of breaking a bone. And also Xeloda it's a chemo pill and then the IV cocktail one is given separate I've 15 minutes it' Adriamycin, aka the "Red Devil called that because it's so darn harsh and two others. I'm scared and even going to thera and taking a antidepressan. Do any of you take any of this?!?! I thought I was almost through with at least radiation but not now and I dont know how much more my bum can handle. I hade terrible di anyway but now it's horrible and the nausea and vomiting isn't much better my oncologist and other drs are trying to gfigure how to help me. Then I had a friend die on the 22nd of colon cancer then this morning my cousin died of stomach and lung cancer which had metastasized to her bones her femur. I'm just scared witless and bueeded to find out any information.

OMG, you have been through so much already and now more.  I am really sorry to hear all of this and wish I knew of something to say that would help you.  This treatment is rough.  I didn't have so much nausea, however, the diarrhea was horrible.  Are you on any anti-diarrhea medicine, such as Lomotil?  The only advice I can give you is keep on your doctors to keep trying meds until you find some that help you through this.  I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow, so sorry to hear all that you've been dealt with!

it sounds like you need better medicine for the side effects, although I'm a newbie to anal cancer.  (Today was my first day of radiation and chemo.)

I've been on low dose of antidepressants for 12 years (since I had breast cancer & hot flashes).  it can only help.

I will be thinking of you, keep us posted.  The docs better find the right things to help you!

Bone Mets and side effects of chemo/ radiation dz

well I had my first chemo of "red devil" it's being given to me in what is called "dose dense" which means once a week for 12 weeks. The drug is a kind of pinkish red and it's given through my port can't do it any other way because it can damage my heart. The nurse had been specially trained but geez she was in cap, gown and glov because it's so toxi. My dosage is 4 HUMONGOUS tubes And she told me that whether I urinates or pooped to flush the to lush the toil a minimum of four times with the lid down then to wash my hands for 30 minutesdctfdand my radiation/oncologist did markers and simulation for my left hip that has bone mets that they found on my left hip socket. I vomitEd and heaved for about a hour I didn't have diarrhea today my oncologist has me taking lomotil
