My husband is in the Siteman Cancer Center program which includes Cisplatin and Abraxane every three weeks for nine weeks.  On the weeks he does not have both he has Abraxane only.  The side effects thus far are body aches (Back and legs mainly) and fatigue.  Legs also ache, but we think it was because his sodium level was a bit low.  Fitigue is key.  He has been going to work and is able to, but if he has to do strenuious activity he hits a wall and becomes exhausted.  The GREAT news is the tumor had already shrunk a day or so after the first treatment!!  He was then much better able to swallow foods that he had had to have put in the nutra bullet the week before!  After the second treatment more shrinking of the tumor.  It's obvious, his neck is no longer protruding.  We know the cancer is still in there, but the goal is to make it shrink and then after the nine weeks of chemo we will follow that with seven weeks of chemo/radiation.  The absolute worst and most painful night was the second week after Abraxane only which I thought was weird since he hadn't had the two chemos together.  I'm surprised there is nothing to read about this combination of chemos being used together to fight this cancer.  The Oncologist my husband sees at Siteman has been using this combination for 6 years.  Right now in his most recent study the conclusion is that 19 out of 20 responded well to the treatment...I have not asked if there is NED, but was told that one of the patients still had a lymph node that didn't look right..A surgical procedure was done to remove it and it was "dust"...NED.
