1st oncology appt after lumpectomy

Hi - This is my first post. I have found so many of your post immensely helpful over the past month so thank you for your sharing and insight. I was DX about a month ago and had a lumpectomy (2.4 cm tumor, both invasive and en situ). and SNB 2 weeks ago. Recovery has been very easy, I am happy to report. Tomorrow is my first oncology appointment since the lumpectomy. I am creating my list of questions and wanted to know if you all had any suggestions for things I should discuss.   So far, I was thinking:

- Hopefully my patheology report is back and I can begin to plan for radiation (most likely) or chemo (less likely). How to plan/prepare?

- What do I need to know about hormone therapy and - does this mean I will go thru menopause 2x (I am 42 and no signs of menopause yet).

What else??

    As you've probably already

    As you've probably already read, take someone with you.You're going to get a lot of information. That's when I found out that I would need chemo, which drugs and how many rounds. She told me what to expect from the chemo, I was given an appointment with the radiation oncologist, too. She explained the hormone therapy (Arimidex for 5 years).  I was already post-menopause so I'll leave that for another poster. Best wishes.

    Testing on cancer cells

    Have you had the oncotype testing done on the lump?  This helps them determine if chemo is recommended.

    I am waiting on the results of my oncotype testing and then I will be meeting with an oncologist.  They are hoping just radiation and no chemo but depends on the results of the test.

    Let us know how the oncologist appointment went and share with us any questions you thought to ask and maybe wished you would have asked.

    Thanks all!

    My onco was 12 (8% of recurrance) the oncologist recommended 6.5 weeks of radiation and then hormone therapy. She said that the current plan is 5 years of hormone therapy but that we will likely do 10 years. I am 42 now so that will leave me at 52 - hopefully already into menopause myself.
