Anyone heard of this drug? Ibrance is being given for metestized breast cancer(my daughter in law) who has mets to her bones and liver.  Her numbers were in the 900's and droped to the 400's in one month.  This coming month they are predicting she will be in the 100's or lower!  There are almost no side affects with this drug(at least for her).  This is her fourth chemo to try since she recurred.  I looked it up...one month supply(oral pill) is 10,000.00 a month.  Thankfully my son works for Saudi-Aramco and the King of Saufia Arabia so money and benifits are great.  Just curious...heard it was going to be tried out in other cancers also.  Thanks, Debra

    Very Promising New Drug

Just looked it up online and it seems to be a very promising new drug. Hopefully its efficacy can be tried on other cancers, too. Thanks for sharing such hopeful news and good luck to your daughter-in-law!

Thanks Sandy and Kvydson, it does sound promising for all of us!  Can you imagine a pill once a day, no side effects, that you can use indeffently?  Son works for SaudiAramco in Rihyad, SA for the Kingdom.  Excelent pay and benifits.  Hope it works for all.  She got breast cancer at 34...no history, no BRACA, nothing!  So here's hoping!  Best, Debra

    Ibrance

    Hi Debra:

I haven't heard of that drug particular.  However, I do know that it is for breast cancers taht are ER-Positive and HER2-Negative.   My mom is a stage 4 HER2-positive (high aggressive).   She didn't want chemo but agreed to try Herceptin (which is for HER2-postive cancers).   This is also a remarkable drug.  She had nodules in both lungs, a lymph node and her right breast.   After 18 months she only has the breast tumor which has decreased in size so much that they want to remove it by lumpectomy.    She has no side effects.  She is 82 years old and still drives.  She even drives herself now to her treatments.    I hope that Ibrance gets the same results!

Also, a friend of mine has been on herceptin for bone mets which were all through her body from breast cancer.   Its going on 10 years now.

My best to your daughter in law.
