Just Diagnosed

Options

Hello All,

I am 39 yrs old, (will be 40 in Sept). I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007 and never had a pregnancy. For years I had irregular periods.

I was just diagnosed with Uterine cancer yesterday after a biopsy revealed abnormal cells. I go to see a specialist on Monday for my first consultation. I have been experiencing heavy bleeding. I also have been nauseous after eating and have had extreme hip pain in my left hip. Is this something others have experienced?

Would appreciate any advice. Also, questions to ask the specialist.

Thank you!

SL

    Sadly, Welcome

So glad you found us, sorry for the reason.  It's hard to give advice when there are many types of Uterine cancer.  I have UPSC, a grade "C" agressive cancer.  I have been cancer free or NED for over five years, but there will be someone here to help you soon.  I have never had PCOS, but several here have.  Just try to stay calm.  Take note, take someone with you to hear the discussion, even record the session.  Sit down and just start with the simple questions you can think of now.  The other girls will give you more detailed questions such as surgery, chemo, radiation, how to handle all of this, especially when you know what type cancer you have.  Just take a deep breath, take this whole thing one baby step at a time, and don't try to Google your symptoms...it will drive you crazy.  We are all here, I'm up late if you need me.  I am Debra(Jo) diagnosed in 2009.  Hang on honey, the ladies here are great and I can asure you, at leat one of us has had exactly what you have!  This is where you can ask or tell or vent ANYTHING you want.  You are NOT alone!  Best, Debra

    Welcome

So sorry we have to meet this way, but you have found a good place to be.  This is a great bunch of ladies that can and will give you encouragement and information.  This is the scariest part, when all is new. baby steps is a good idea and do take someone with you to your appointment.  The best specialist are gynecological oncologists.  They treat primarily below the belt cancers.  They really can not tell what stage or grade the cancer is until after surgery.  I was diagnosed in Aug. 2012. With papillary serous endrometrial andocarsinoma .  I have had to short periods of NED, but my cancer has matastisized to various places along my lymphatic system.  I am still here and have many more good days than bad.  I have learned how truely blessed I am.  Cancer has shown me what a wonderful caring husband and family I have, what great freinds, and the best of medical care.

This is the plac to ask questions, vent, or just write. We are here to help you.  You I'll find that you are much stronger than you ever thought you could be.

    Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann
