I am mel, my mother has stage 3 uterine cancer. We found out a month ago. She is 2 weeks out to the end of her radiation Then We do another CTscan and see if the tumor shrunk enough to do surgery. I am new to all this and would love any pointers and support. She is responding well to treatment but this waiting is driving us all nuts. I would love any and all advice I can get.

    Mel,
    I can offer a shoulder

    Mel,

I can offer a shoulder and an ear! Hang in there.  The waiting is the hardest part!  Keep posting and I will try and keep checking.  We caregivers have our own unique problems and we need to be there for each other.  I wish this board was more active.

    Stay positive / Have hope

Hi Mel,  Being a caregiver is a challenge.  My husband is a 5 1/2 year survivor of stage 4 prostate cancer.  I try to always stay positive for him.  I attend most doctors appointments so that I know what is going on and he doesn't have to remember everything to tell me.  Laughter is key too.  Keeping a positive attitude is certainly helpful in fighting the disease.  We laugh about the strangest things.  I do let him know my struggles as a caregiver, but right or wrong I tend to shield him from a lot of it.

Learn what you can about the disease.  Be her patient advocate.  Use every resource you can find and find an outlet for yourself too.

I hope this helps a little.  Stay positive.  Take care.
