You absolutely must see your surgeon ASAP. When my breast swelled up and turned red, I texted a picture to my onc and she said go see my surgeon the same day!

    Read this: http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/side_effects/seroma

Apparently, it is quite common. My surgeon drained the excess fluid and cultured it BUT THERE WAS NO BACTERIA. So you might not have an infection. But you must get it seen right away. Why haven't you? You've tolerated this for THREE WEEKS?? Honey, why? Are you afraid of "bothering" your doctor? Do you have the idea that there are some things you just have to put up with? Not so. That's why your docs get the big bucks. Cool Call your doc's office and tell them it's urgent.

I had seen the doctor. My incisions were not healing properly so had been seeing surgeon once a week. I kept telling him how bad I was hurting, but he really didn't respond. Finally the area began draining a yellow fluid. When I went in for my weekly check, the nurse said I had an abcess. She called the dr in right away. He messed around with it for a few minutes, then made an incision and packed the area with gauze. That was last Wednesday. I have been packing and unpacking it twice a day. Will go tomorrow and have it checked again.

    My friend

My friend had problems when she had her mastectomy and did the reconstruction all in the same day....there was an infection and eventually they had to remove all the new breast etc....or whatever you call it...anyway...it was very serious and she was very sick and said she would not go thru that again.   I hope yours will turn out to be ok.  Prayers for Healing and let us hear how it turns out after you see this Surgeon again.  Glo

Its very hard to handle our weight during poor health. I had a opertion of liposuction of my tummy. I did because I was plus size women, and I always wants to look beautiful and gorgeous with curvy figure but it makes me a cancer patient. Now, it is very hard to come over this. But anyways, you must take care of yourself.

    I packed and repacked mine

I packed and repacked mine for TWO MONTHS. What a nuisance. It has to heal from the inside out. During this time, I was seeing my surgeon twice a week, but it was fine because I LOVE her. I'm not thrilled with your surgeon's attitude. Pain is something to be taken seriously. It's bad enough to be going through this without being discounted. Be patient with it. It may take a while.
