Am just wondering

Hi gang

All is well just about a year now post treatment back to work hate the 24/7 nite shift as my body goes up and down never liked it before all this happen.Am able to swallow and evn gum most of the comfort food I eat and have gained back 25 of the 55 pounds I lost.Last went in and they took about an inch of bone from my leg and used it to fill a gap in my chin from the operation It would fill in over time but we decieded to speed the process up.Since all pet and cat scans have been clear for almost a year we are going forward. When the bone does fuse to the jaw and make it solid will be going back in to have gums trimmed and fit for implants. My tops will be dentures and the plate will be thicker for my tounge and flap to hit like normal people do.He tols me I won't be eating any more double burger kings but ok with me.Anyway her's the question I know I read here somewhere but not sure where. After I have is part done I noticed my slivia has become thicker and my throat alittle dryer as when I do speak am alittle hoarse now.Not sure if it is effects of being under again and they stick a tube down my throat and is sensitive or the meds I was given has dried my throat out more the normal or what. But just trying ti think what everyone drank to help cut the thickness and keep throart moist.

    Club Soda

You can swish and gargle - and even drink club soda or other carbonated water - like Mendota Springs.  It will help cut the thick saliva.  I got that from a SLP a couple of years ago.  Tried it, and it worked great!

    Thick Spit

With me my slaver would thicken up then be normal then go dry then go back to being thick again. It did this for a few years but remember I had radiation twice to the same area on my face and neck. Now it is steady kind of normal about 60% of what I once had, sometimes it is a problem because I can’t swallow so I am always spitting it out. I hate that because people who don’t know me and don’t understand what we been through are always looking at how discussing it is. I can read there expressions on their face even when they don’t think I see them

Hope it settles down for you soon

    I was alittle surprized

I was alittle surprized mainly because it's been almost a year since radition treatments. And even more surprized by it being so dry and becoming horse the last week or so.Not sure if it's from that or the meds or if they stuck a tube down my throat during the operation and has irratated it.
