Hello

I have been on tamoxifen since March of 2015 . I have had a dry hacking non phelgm cough that has going on since then . I dont know where this came from and it is starting to become very worrysome . I have read about it and there are people I have seen go several years to no avail and try home remedies to ease their suffering . Are there any new treatments to combat this cough by any chance ?

Liz

Haven't heard of that as a side effect of Tamoxifen

    Liz,

I've been on Tamoxifen for 5 1/2 years, and haven't experienced any cough or throat issues.  I also don't think I've ever heard of that as a side effect of Tamoxifen -- have you spoken with one of your doctors, to see if there might be some other issue going on?

    Tamoxifen

I just received my new refill and have been on it for 3 yrs now.  I read on the warnings that it may cause hoarseness, but I haven't had any noticeable side effects.  I say check in w/your DR.

Been on the stuff for almost three years.  I have not had that challenge.  Like the others have already said -- check with your oncologist.

    Liz,
    I've had a cough since

    Liz,

I've had a cough since the first of the year...Doctor's couldn't figure it out...Had 2 CT scans - they couldn't find anything...I personally decided to go off Tamoxifen for a month-low and behold - my cough went away...I read the side effect brochure from Walgreens when I refilled my prescription...(had never read it before)...that is listed as one of the side effects...funny my Oncologist didn't consider this...the first thing he wanted to jump to is clot in lung...At this point, I guess suffering is the only thing to do...

Liz, my suggestion is to talk to your Oncologist to see if another hormone therapy drug - that's my plan of action when I see him again in 3 months...

    Good luck,    Andi

Onlly side effect i had , which Drs say not related but since I am off it after 5 yrs...(OFF now 2 yrs) was wicked night leg cramps (that seemed like that lasted forever)

I did have (after 2 1/2 yrs) enlarged uterus and had a total hystsectomy-and finished the remaining time of my tamoxifen.

    Cough

    Hi Liz.

I was having coughing issues when I first started Tamoxifen and it wound up being acid reflux.  My breast cancer experience wreaked havoc on my stomach and the tamoxifen didn't help that situation.  As soon as I started taking it the cough started.  I went on Prilosec and felt much better.  Check with your oncologist. Maybe your cough is something as simple as that.
