Hi all!,

My mom is in her 5th week of radiation and started second round of chemo today 96 hr pump. Shes been ok for the most part, very sore from radiation. She tolerated the first round of chemo ok,  her biggest issue was mouth sores, she did have some.nausea but nothing severe she did need a transfusion along the way from counts being so low from the bleeding, but good news the bleeding has stopped!!! She 9 more radiation treatments! I don't know if anyone else knows if this is a medical fact or not I just assumed this, but since the bleeding has stopped and it was caused by the tumor shouldnt that mean it's dying? Her dr said the tumore has its own blood supply so to me if the bleeding has stopped that's means the tumor dying! She has been so positive and hardly complained she can hardly wait to get back to normal! Her last day of treatment is next Friday and she leaves for her house on florida with my dad Sunday (2 days later) she is determined if she has to rest and recouperate she rather do it down there!

I'm glad your mom is tolerating treatment so well, despite some of the usual side effects.  That tumor will not survive this treatment, I just know it!  I hope the remaining treatments go well and that she has a speedy recovery.  Florida sounds like a great place to recuperate and I hope she'll tolerate the trip well.  Please keep us posted.

There Was No Way For Me

It would have been impossible for me to have traveled anywhere post treatment for at least 90 days.  I never could get very far from a bathroom due to incontinence issues.  It got better but for the first two years after treatment I made sure I knew where a bathroom was if I went anywhere.  Hopefully your mom has minimal incontinence issues but this seems to be a common problem for us anal cancer survivors.  I do not have incontinence issues now but have more frequent daiy bowel movements.  My norm before anal cancer was 1-2 times daily.  It is now 3-4 times daily.

I do worry about her flight,

I do worry about her flight, she is determined to go! We will see what happenes. She usually spends most of the winter down there but had to come home in january because of the cancer and that's when she was diagnosed. She has had some issues but learning what triggers and how to balance it out. She is on iron becasue of anemia and her dr told her that could bind her up so she tries to have a happy balance of fruit, and regular diet
