Good news, bad news

The good news is that the PET scan did not show any problems with my pancreas.  Also, my bones remain in remission.  However, it did find a small area of hypermetabolism in the left liver and my CEA and liver enzymes remain elevated.  Also, it says there are "unfavorable changes" from my May scan in the lungs with several new nodules.  "Even though the lung nodules are not hypermetabolic, they are suspicious for metastasis."

Sigh, I still have to have the dreaded endoscopic US of the pancreas tomorrow.  Then sometime soon, they are going to try and get a lung biopsy, if possible.  Because the nodules are all in the lower lobes, this may not be possible.

Anyway, looking into my crystal ball,  I predict a change in chemo is in my future.  Lol, I bet you all can make the same prediction. 

Today, for the first time in 2 weeks, I had a bit of an appetite and celebrated, after my PET, with a waffle and a bit of bacon.  And I enjoyed it!

    I am glad that pancease is free and ready to enjoy bacon. happy to celebrate good news, sorry that you have to deal with bad news too.

    Hmm, that certainly is good and bad news

    but the good news is really really good. Right? And you always respond to treatment so, yes, probably new chemo, but you'll kick butt with it. 

    Of course, we'd like it to be all good news. And no more yucky testing. Just know you're loved and we've got several pink busses following you around.

    I guess we can expect clear here and changes there in reports these days.  I am not certain why you need a biopsy of those nodules.

    Wishing you good luck tomorrow. We don't need a crystal ball anymore to know what's next.  It could be better than what your using now.

    The good news is really good news
    the bad news is search and destroy! Hopefully the new chemo will have minimal se. I am thinking the biopsy is a ggod thing cuz it may not be cancer, just plain old nodules?

    Doris, I don't think they

    Doris, I don't think they will be able to biopsy those nodules.  They never have before, because they are always too distally located in the airways.  In the past, I saw 4 different pulmonologists until I finally found a really smart one who explained it to me.  He said he beileved that there was breast cancer in my lungs, but it was impossible to get at and they should biopsy my rib.  He was right.  After a little search, I finally found a surgeon willing to do it and the biopsy, of course, revealed breast cancer. 

    That mets popped up in 2005, but it took me 4 years to get the official diagnosis.  In the meantime, I had been put on boniva and evista for multiple rib fractures - lol that is what probably slowed it down a bit as I ended up on arimidex and zometa.
