Have Not Forgotten You, My Friends

Hope all of you are still beating the crummy beast. Please be strong, but gentle with yourselves.

I have not left Kentucky yet as I have been in the hospita for 6 days with a mysterious lung infection. Started 2 weeks ago with sore throat which progressed to acute bronchitis & despite meds became pneumonia. A CT was negative for blood clots in lungs. Waiting for results of Bronc biopsy checking for bacteria & fungus. A ton of mucus was cleaned from lungs. Glad I was asleep. That helped the breathing a lot. The lung doc does not know what is wrong with me. Kentucky is filled with many pollens & extreme humidity. Was breathing hard even sitting down, but seems to be improving. Strangest thing is the froth that I keep spitting out. Mouth seems to fill up with it. Have also been blessed with the Thrush bonus as so many of you have. My BP has become erratic to the point of 200/110 at which point I get extra meds. Have had bad situation with Ron at this hospital in 2008 where they wanted to cut off his hand. Will say, in my case, all are bending over backward  to solve the probem. Was offered rehab center when they figure this out, but said I just want to go to the house. Only was staying to assist my SIL with some things & have added another burden for him, although he swears not.

So waiting(not patiently) for a diagnosis & recovery plan. I'm afraid I don't make a good patient as my hospital experience has all been on the caregiver side.

I still contend to be a tough ol' broad, but know I am worn out after so many years of worrying about my baby & Ron. Cannot bouce back real fast.

My heart is broken once again for my beautiful daughter  & Ron. The pain for each is diferent & cannot control the many thoughts & feelings, Have little melt downs as I know this time I return home, I will be saying goodbye to a grave only & returning to one.

Just rattling on. Somehow I will climb this wall as I have with many others.

Please take care.

Luv,

Wolfen

    Wolfen,

I have a little magic mouth wash I will share with you.  Works good!

Keep healing, I figured you for a tough ol’ broad; it is your big generous heart that causes you pain.

    Best always,

    You

Prayers for you for a speedy recovery.  Your plate has been full for a long time and it has caught up with you.  Caregiving is hard both physically and mentally and you have been thru a lot in the last few years.  Hospital stays are no fun whether you are the patient or the caregiver.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and return to your home soon.

    Overworked

With all you have been through in the last few years your body is so overworked is it starting to show. I know it is hard but it is time for you to get some rest, being a caretaker can take its toll on your body very fast. You have been so strong like a rock through your husband’s treatment, then to have your daughter right behind him; I can’t imagine the amount of stress you are under. I will keep you in all my prayers.

    Hurts my heart

to hear that you've been sick.  You have endured SO much, that I think your body is tired and you have to be emotionally exhausted.  I will keep you in my prayers and hope that you are able to return home soon.  Again, I am truly sorry for everything you've had to go through.  God gives his hardest battles to his toughest warriors.  YOU, are a warrior.

Froth is a worrisome development.  What would you rate this hospital overall?  Don't hesitate to transfer if you can't get a confirmed diagnosis.

    Strange

After tests, it was determined that I have a fungal growth in my lungs called Aspergillous(sp?). It is caused by mold, spores, dust, etc. Good ol' Kentucky fresh air. People can usually fight it off readily, but because I am so run down, my immune system is compromised. On some steroids & extra BP meds for a few days & Thrush med. Thanks, Matt for the offer. Actually have Magic Mouthwash which is helping. Weak & tired & stairs are not my friend right now. Will just have to ride this out with lots of rest & try for home in 3 weeks.

Noellesmom, the froth is clearing up some. Wonder if it's coming from the Thrush. Doc didn't seem alarmed. I don't think this hospital is well thought of, but in this rural area, it's all they have. Nearest one is 40 miles away. Will be seeing my primmary when I get back home.

    Praying for you

    Wolfen:

Prayers for speedy recovery.  I know how tough it is when faced with losing loved ones.  My husband passed on 8/21/10 and then my middle oldest brother on 10/16/10 with massive hemorrhage to the brain.  Between that and Charlie's cancer recurrence was not a good time!  Hope things get a little easier to bear for you quickly.  God Bless!

    My God comfort you

    follow up with primary

Wolfen, be sure you see your primary promptly.  Aspergillosis is aggressive and you must be, too.

    Hugs.
