Calling hospice tomorrow

Hi Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your wonderful words.  They mean so much.  You give me such comfort.  I know you are here for us.  **** went to the onc today and told the onc that at times he was having trouble breathing.  Sitting his O2 was around 95 but with any walking it went down to 83-85.  That is a very scary feeling for him. After x ray and cat they said no blood clot but yes there is fluid around the lungs.  He is going to have the fluid drained hopefully tomorrow (since the storm is supposed to hit early Friday morning).  Also he now has oxygen at home if he needs it.  The doc thinks he will get some good relief from the draining but still wants us to contact hospice.  The clinical trial is still a small possibility but they may not take him with these new issues and they weren't even sure if they were taking him anyway.  I am so grateful that his best friend was here for the day and that my sister and bil are here.   I will keep you posted as I know you are in this with us.

Aloha,
Kathleen

    Prayers

My prayers for you, **** and your family.  I'm hoping that the draining does give him some relief and that hospice will be able to make him more comfortable.  You are a wonderful caregiver and **** is such a fighter.  I'm glad that you have family and friends with you.

    very same thing

Hi Kathleen, at this very moment I am going through the exact same thing as you are.  My husband also had fluid around his lung, he had to have it drained twice. Our onc said there was nothing more they can do for him and to call hospice  which we did.  It is tough to sit here and watch him. I miss my husband even though he lays here in front of me he is not really here. He can no longer speak to me clearly because of the tumor pressing on his vocal chord and the pain killers  I sleep on the couch so I am near him. I pray for strength for you to get through this and for your husband to have peace and be pain free. I am here if you need to talk.  Pm if you would like.

    Caregivers rock!

My prayers for everyone that is a caretaker. I've been a caretaker. I know it's a very difficult position. You ladies rock!  You're an inspiration. You took your vows seriously. You're loving unselfishly. You probably don't even realize the strength and loving environment you are giving your husbands. I pray for your strength to continue. You are loving wonderful women.

    Be safe

Difficult times indeed, not only with ****'s health but also the weather coming your way.

I hope that the draining procedure gives **** from relief,

Since **** is now on oxygen, you might also want to call your local power company, if you don't have a personal generator, so that they can put you all on the list of "first served" if there is a power outage.

I am glad you have family and friends with you.

May the storms be gentle to you and yours.

    Love and hugs,

    Marie who loves kitties

    Hi Kathleen

Please give **** a hug for me . I have a lot of problems with edeema ,particularly pulmonary edeema. the first time It happened I woke at night unable to get enough air. It is a very scary feeling. I don't panic easily and it really freaked me out. I have to take 40 mg of lasik a day just to keep it in check. Hugs to both of you. Stay safe with the big blow..Ron.
