Lotions and Potions

Joe, my doctor recommended a water based lotion (I think i used Cetaphil which you can buy almost anywhere) and he said apply liberally, which I did.  When the Acne got bad, and your's will probably get there in a week or so, he perscribed a lotion that had an antibiotic in it that teenagers use for acne.    It seemed to help for sure.

If your treatment goes like mine, most will clear up before you finish the round of treatments.   At the end I used a body sponge that was a little rougher than a wash cloth on my body to get rid of the last of the rash on the body.

damn do these little annoying cuts hurt. Never knew before how many times you bump your fingers into something. I was given Medline remedy with olivamine hand lotion. It helps but I think the main thing is to keep your skin from drying out

My rash was mild and limited to my nose with a tiny bit extending out from there so I really did not use anything. I shouldn't admit it but if I had the start of a painful one, I applied pressue and got relief. I did not have any scarring. For you, the good news is that a heavy rash is rumored to be a good sign that it is working. 

I put auqhaphor on my cuticles and underside of finger tips at night and wore cotton gloves to bed. Did that about every 3 nights. You can just buy cotton gardening gloves, not too big. My nails did very well and never cracked open so worth a try.  When  finished tx, I had 3 spots on my soles of feet that crusted over and broke open. Not unbearable but wish I had done the auquaphor and cotton socks to prevent. I was told not to get a mani/pedi during tx. I waited a fair amt. of time post tx. to heal and get a pedi to get rid of the hardness where it broke open. Now ok.

I had also mentioned a hair product by Aveeda that helps reduce hair thinning by 33%. I think it is Aveeda Invanti. I did not know about it upfront but have used it afterwards. Can get a tiny bottle, which goes a long way, at Nordstrom for $10 then ask for samples for the cream rinse and spray. Can be bought on Amazon but in large sizes and expensive. When my hair started going, about 5 weeks in tx, I had it cut short. Once cut, it seemed to quit falling out. Never lost 100% but got very thin.

 I found side efffects minimal compared to when I had Cisplatin.

Good luck, Joe. Encourage you to give the cloth gloves/socks and auquaphor a chance. It can't hurt.
