in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Just finished 35 radiations over seven weeks and three chemo treatments over the same period of time with infusion of cisplatin. all the tumors appear to be gone this includes one or two lymph nodes and one at the base of my tongue. My radiologist believes that the cancer is now gone but we won't know until the pet scan in three months.

I have managed to be able to eat complete meals throughout the entire process swallowing and I have been able to keep my voice throughout the entire process also. Give credit for this to my speech pathologist along with my stubbornness.

I have brought my mask home, we refer to him as Junior, and after some decorating he will have a permanent home on the wall in the living room.

    Mike Im 8 days out of similair treatment but with 33 rads. Also lucky to continue eating. I saw a lot of people here in UK succumb to tube feeding which saved them. So good luck mate. Managed to excercise throughout most of it and was on bike today. Convinced this helped me. Doctor has just given me green light to do 50 mile cancer charity bike ride next weekend (will be taking it slowly). Delighted you come through treatment so well as it gives heart to others embarking on the road. G.

    Congrats on all counts! Personally, I never wanted to see any of my masks (3) ever again. As soon as I finished tx, I was so ready to move forward and look toward the future.

    If it gives you strength, then your living room wall is where it should be proudly displayed. But, if you find that it becomes a reminder of bad times, set it on fire!
