Has anyone had this?

The left side of my tongue rapidly pulsates. I can't feel it moving but can see it in a mirror. If memory serves me right, it happened before and resolved itself. My dentist thought maybe damaged sensory nerves trying to reattach. Since it has been going on 2 weeks now, my speech is not as clear and on rare occasion water or milk come out my nose, I went to my old radiologist here in STL yesterday. He said he had never seen before. Told me to see ENT and Neurologist. If not for speech concerns, I wouldn't be worried. Having been radiated 3 times, I don't know what to expect. He said it could be nerve damage, could be the tumor has grown and is pressing a nerve, or "it could be nothing". I waited 2 hours to hear that :-(   I know some of you had the water come out your nose but what about the pulsating tongue? I am scheduled for scans in the next month or so. On a good note, my swallowing is fine.

    Sorry

I've had shingles and now the outbreak of psoriasis but not my tongue pulsating.  I have had other spots on face that seemed to pulsate.  Nerves?  Doesn't seem like we can ever get a straight answer to these strange sensations.  My ear is currently draining!  No pain (but I also don't have much feeling on that side of my head).  I just got a call the the doctor has an emergency and had to cancel my appointment.  I get to wait until 4 pm Monday to find out about ear.

my tongue is what brought me to the H&N forum

    Candi,

No vibrating tongue, but it feels funky along the bottom side, right between my lower back teeth.  It doesn’t hurt, but feels kind of numb just like it did when I finished rads (and it has been 2+ years).

    Hope you taste relief soon,

    Matt

    Thanks all

On a good note, at 2+ years out, I've FINALLY gone without using any magic mouthwash. I am no longer getting the burning sensation with certain foods. Haven't tried real spicey yet but managed some shrimp sauce yesterday.  Saliva seems to have picked up a bit too.
