I'm posting this link for anyone who might be interested, because the video has a lot of really good information regarding ER+ breast cancer, as well as uterine cancer.  Although the topic is uterine cancer and is from a presentation to gyn cancer survivors and the presenter is a gynecologic oncologist, he does such a good job of explaining the role of estrogen, Tamoxifen, and weight on both breast and uterine cancers.  He explains aromotase, how it works and how blocking it's activity has been effective in breast cancer, as well as how Tamoxifen works.  I wish some of our own docs could find a way to spend enough time explaining how things work (or don't) rather than just telling us to do this and not do that (I think my own docs have done a pretty good job of explaining things to me, but we're not always listening when it's applicable to us).  I know some patients don't want to know a lot of information, but I' not one of them and if they want ME to be compliant, they'd better educate me.  I have no medical nor biology background, yet at some level I had quite a few aha moments watching this video.  A lot of it is, of course, not related to breast cancer, but since I've had both, it really connected a few dots for me.

    I'm in your camp...

Even as a child, in school... Couldn't really 'get' the subject if I didn't fully understand the 'why/how/etc.'... (Frustrating for a few of my teachers back then: "Just memorize the formula!" My response: "It won't stick in my brain if I don't totally understand it!!!")

    Thanks for sharing, Suzanne.

    Kind regards, Susan
